NHL 2013 regular season thread!

Hartnell with a hat trick last night. Two on the power play. Flyers only score three in the previous 4 games and then lgiht up the Habs for seven. Go figure. Tonight they play the Rangers who can mathematically eliminate them. Which end of this bipolar team will show up tongiht?

I was just reading about the Bruins signing Soderberg. Neely is high on him, high enough to give him a three year deal, but admits to never seeing him play. That's odd, eh?

-Mike

He could really give the Bruins new blood. He at least has the potential. He led the Swedish Elite league in goals and points with 61 in 54 games.

I know this stuff about players because I am a fantasy hockey fanatic...

Jim Carrey only did it for one season, Reimer has done it for two now.
Last year, he had a .900 rating and was playing for .500.

He was ranked 43rd in the league in efficiency and 45th in GAA.

I don't know how else to explain to you how he's nothing special.

Is he having a better season than last year? Yes. As I said, he's playing over his head right now. Last year, he wasn't.

We'll see if he's more than a flash in the pan next year, but my guess from watching him is that he won't have a long-term career in TO.

You are forgetting his rookie season, last year was the blip and he was injured for a good chunk of the time.

He was 14th in saving % and 28th in GAA in his rookie season. I wouldn't call that phenomenal.

Currently, he's tied with Schneider for saving %. Which of the two do you believe every single person who knows his hockey would tout as being the (much) better goalie and the one destined to have a better career between Schneider and Reimer?

That's what I'm referring to with the expression "playing over his head." He's overperforming right now and will most likely come back down. Either during the playoffs or next season. We'll see.

Limiting the size of goalie gear - yes. Changing the size of the net - no.

That said, I don't see a need for either at this point.

Crazy when you watch old game film and see what the goalies (and skaters) wore back in the 70's and even 80's. And to think that equipment was heavier then that the big stuff is now. I can remember my old leg pads from my goalie days. Thins felt like they weighed 70 pounds a piece!

Yep. I have the same memory. Hauling my goalie gear to games and practices (early-mid '80s) was brutal for a skinny kid.

So I'm wondering who i will cheer for this post season since without a complete miracle the Flyers are out. So who should i cheer for? Don't even say pens or rangers, won't happen.!

How about the Kings, Philly West. :)

I've been keeping an eye on Anaheim all season. I sure hope they can win the Stanley Cup this year.
