NHL 2013 regular season thread!

What info? No way is that correct. Last time they had Dupuis play center it was because Crosby, Malkin and Staal were all out at the same time. Even if Malkin doesn't play tonight, Pens still have Jokinen, Sutter, Vitale and Adams at center. Highly doubt they pull the winger who is #1 in even strength goals this season and last season and stick him at center tonight.

So you think Huskins actually got hit that hard? Makes sense.

You don't?

Watch the videos. Pay special attention to the angle used by Shanahan in his video announcing the suspension. They show White launch his shoulder into Huskins' jaw as he skates past. Huskins goes down immediately.

Then watch the other videos available on Youtube. Announcers on both teams' broadcasts immediately note that Huskins was knocked out. He left the game with a concussion. He also missed the following game.

I'd love to hear how you reconcile your feigned outrage with what you wrote in post 39 of this thread.

and word is looch will be on the much deserved 4th line.
He should be put in the press box. Guy needs to shape up and show up for games.

The Playoffs are right around the corner. If that's his work ethic now... :scowl:

You guys see Ryan White got suspended 5 games for the dive-job Huskins pulled? First time offender and he gets 5 games for this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-PQKhOc4s8
Hits to the head should be punished regardless of results. The intention was there to injure or at the very least cause extreme harm.

I'm not surprised Shanahan dropped the hammer (hard!) on him because he's relatively unknown. Had it been Tavares, it would have been a phone meeting which can only result in a max suspension of 2 games.

Favoritism is like that.

OK I take it back! Duper is indeed playing center. Bizarre move in my opinion.
Think I've proven time and again that I usually know what I'm talking about.

The lines aren't set in stone. Coaches oftentimes like to have balanced lines and they are kept this way when the game goes the team's way. Otherwise, they're changed so as to maximize whatever firepower they have at their disposal. And let's not forget powerplays. :)

Apparently not the first time he was shifted to center, although in my experience, it's usually centermen who are transitioned to the winger position rather than the opposite.

Here are the lines for the game.

.: MONTRÉAL :.
Ryder - Plekanec - Gionta
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher
Prust - Eller - Galchenyuk
Bourque - Halpern - Moen

Markov - Bouillon
Gorges - Subban
Weber - Drewiske

Budaj
(11 GP, 7-1-1, 2.19 GAA, .915 %SV)
Price
(34 GP, 19-10-4, 2.50 GAA. .908 %SV)

.: PITTSBURGH :.
Kunitz - Jokinen - Iginla
Morrow - Dupuis - Bennett
Cooke - Sutter - Kennedy
Glass - Vitale - Adams

Orpik - Letang
Murray - Niskanen
Eaton - Després

Fleury
(29 GP, 21-6-0, 2.26 GAA, .919 %SV)
Vokoun
(18 GP, 11-4-0, 2.57 GAA, .912 %SV)

As I said, Ryder is out, so it'll be interesting to see who'll fill that hole. And Weber will be playing his 3rd game of the season. He'll be quite rusty, so I'm wondering if/how the Pens will take advantage of the terrible 3rd D pairing.

Getting ready to watch Boston / Buffalo with a heavy heart.

Pray for Boston

Guy gets a concussion and you are calling him a diver. Clearly Huskins is faking the concussion as well. White deserved every bit of that suspension. How we only wound up with a minute worth of PP as a result of that play was BS.

Ok, I actually watched the Shanahan video. I take back everything I said about diving, and realize I made myself look like an idiot. I didn't see it that way when I watched the two videos I saw on youtube. Clearly he was injured.

I still think 5 games is too much for a guy who made incidental contact and has no history.

Fair enough. We'll have to agree to disagree on the suspension levied,...but Shanahan is this boss. To me; concussions end careers,...White's is just getting started.

According to commentary,...White was a call up to replace an injured player (the name escapes me) on the Habs' lineup; so in my mind,...the suspension is not really of much consequence to the big club. Unless Habs aren't that deep at forward.

That's what the amnesty buyouts are for.

Yeah but who do they buyout?

Bryz?
Briere?

Both (they get two right)?

Someone else?

Is Prongers contract still on the books while he's on LTIR?

They could go anywhere with this in the offseason. Sources this and media that; the reality is we can only really speculate.

As much as I like Briere,...I feel like he is past his prime and I feel like he's having a hard time fitting in on this roster. Yeah yeah injuries,...yeah yeah,...playoffs are where he shines; we probably won't be able to tell if he is over the hill this year as there will be no playoffs for the Flyers. So it wouldn't be all to surprising to see them buy his contract out.

It's easy to say that the writing is on the wall for Bryz as well,...but I'm not so sure. Maybe having a reliable backup will create some healthy competition to get starts which would be reason enough to continue to give Bryz a look.

The Pens set the table for Boston tonight to take first place from Montreal, but they couldn't close out a third period lead......again. If I'm a Boston fan, I would be frustrated how this team chokes away third period leads.

Interesting bit of trivia.....Brenden Morrow picked up his sixth Gordie Howe hat trick tonight. He is second on the list of active players. Who is first?
