NHL 2013 regular season thread!

Yeah but who do they buyout?

Bryz?
Briere?

Both (they get two right)?

Someone else?
Yes, every team has 2 amnesty buyouts.

However, for me, the choice is very easy ; Brière. He had a disappointing season last year with 49 points and fared even worse this season with a paltry 15 points. His salary is 6.5m/year as opposed to 5.66m/year for Bryzgalov.

It'd cost far less for the Flyers to Brière out as opposed to Bryzgalov.

The problem is simple, though ; there are no 2nd-line centermen destined to become UFAs at the end of the season. Ribeiro is the only one I'd waste any time on, unless the Flyers organization would like to take a chance with Derek Roy? The only other possibility would be a trade and considering the lack of depth the team currently has, I'm unsure if this would be a wise avenue to use.

Couple that with the fact that their noses are being rubbed in Bobrovsky's current play and the management might consider opting for patience this time around, in regards to their goaltenders.

Is Prongers contract still on the books while he's on LTIR?
Not supposed to as LTIR essentially means you're useless to the team for a long stretch of time. Just as Marc Savard is off the books for the Bruins, so is Pronger.

During the off-season, the Flyers should forego re-signing Gagné and Knuble (who forgot how to score goals, now) and seek a high-quality winger. Dupuis would be an interesting signing, but I doubt any amount of money could pry him away from the Crosby crew. Ryder and Iginila might be more realistic choices as I doubt the Pens will have the money to re-sign Iginla.

I'd also pursue Horton and Clarkson for the 2nd line, although in both cases, it'll take some incentive (i.e. $$) to make them leave their respective teams.

Did anybody see the two (2!!!!) goals Bégin scored for the Flames during the Wings game?

Both times, Howard (playing the first game since signing his new crazy contract) went to play the puck behind the net and Bégin took advantage for easy goals.

Wings lost the game 3-2. Ouch!

Bryzgalov to start tonight against New Jersey for Philadelphia. Watch as the devils end their 10 game losing skid.

Bryzgalov must get bought out! Reese can't work with the guy and has already made adjustments with Mason. Maybe use the second on Briere, but Bryz must go! Can't believe htey're playing him tonight!

Yeah; unfortunately he's not a bail you D out kinda goalie. Sad really cause Bryz has the tools to be elite,...except the work ethic. That goal that went 5 hole to make it 2-0 Devils; I feel like he should have had that.

I'm not quite sure what to make of Hartnell this season. Seems like he phoned it in back in January. I don't know what his contract looks like and honestly can't be bothered,...but we was ho hum this season. Even the hat trick he got against the Habs,...he just seemed underwhelmed by it. Maybe it's frustration with the league,...the team,...

Who knows,...

I figured out why the Flyers were so terrible this season; Giroux is on the cover of EA Sport's NHL13.

Pens domination of the Bruins continues, and we're out probably close to $30 mil of our salary cap to injuries right now. Another solid showing by all the new members of the Pens squad.

No idea why Shero isn't getting more talk for GM of the year. Sure there may be more deserving GMs out there but he's at least worth mentioning. The moves he made at the trade deadline are the reason Pens continue to be successful while missing 4 stars, and Sutter and Vokoun have turned out to be brilliant acquisitions.
