JT is not overrated, though he may end up being overpaid. He’s the real deal, by league standards, a legit superstar, and a true leader, and proved it on a dismal, poorly run team. He will instantly make any team vastly better. Which if he leaves the Isles, will be shown by where they end up in the standings next year.

S far as Leafs cap space, right now they have $24.6m, plus Hortons LTIR space of $5.3m. So they have lots of room, even with Nylander probably getting $6.5-7m. And yes, Nylander is worth every penny, his stats the first 3 years of his career are actually better than JT’s were, and he generates as much offense as Matthews.

I think y'all should blow out your roster to make room for him. He's probably the missing piece for the Leafs.
Maybe Tavares/Matthews is the next Crosby/Malkin.

But I am hearing that trade talks for Erik Karlsson are heating up. Of course, that is all gonna depend on who can take Bobby Ryan with him. Which pretty much means Vegas.

And I giggled at his contract, he’s making like $975k a year, and the rest is made up in a yearly “signing bonus” payment.
Basically, and I can’t explain it fully, cuz I’m not an accountant, but it has to do with the income tax issues everyone said would make Toronto a no go. Tax loopholes or whatever.
