NHL Regular Season 2017-18

Yeah, I think Trotz' signing is huge as it likely takes JT off the free agent market. I still say he gets to July 1 as a Free Agent, but only to gauge his worth on the open market so the Isles can pay him what he wants.

Now if Lou can get Grubauer out of DC. A good goalie is imperative to really moving that franchise forward.

Well, that answers that. Grubaur to the Avs along with Orpik, for a second round pick.
Basically a much needed salary dump for the Caps.

I knew i should have waited a few hours before the above post...Grubauer signs a three-year $10M deal with Colorado. Odd because he wanted to be a starter, not platoon with the established Varlamov.

Also hearing the rumor that Orpik will re-sign with the Caps but at a reduced rate from his $5M salary the past four seasons.

Re Hamilton: Supposedly he's more of loner type than a 'team' guy. Reportedly he doesn't always hang out with his teammates, but I still haven't read anything about being disliked or anything like that.

The Flames are rolling the dice here. There is that very slight chance they can't re-sign either of the former Hurricanes. Doubtful but still a possibility. Having Bill Peters in Calgary now helps.

Well hey we do have a trade actually worthy to discuss--so they have given us that

Logic keeps saying JT will stay on the Island. But part of me thinks he might shock us by signing with a team like St. Louis or San Jose. And don't count out Tampa Bay. Even though the cap room isn't there at the moment Yzerman is capable of pulling this off. Gonna be interesting, methinks.
