Ouch, after a decisive win in Texas, a decisive loss tonight.... all that being said... Game 7 Thursday baby!

And for those of you have no idea what hat we are talking about, it’s the AHL Calder Cup finals - Toronto Marlies vs Texas Stars.

It’s been a fierce series, the Marlies were by far the best team In the league, 112 points, and the Stars finished with 90 points, and ground out their way through the playoffs, won 7 of 9 overtimes.

It’s been a fierce playoffs so far.

Boston waited 86 years for the World Series, of which I was an avid fan for 37 of those years. The Stanley Cup wait was only 29 years and it came when I was kid - still most of that was in the Original Six era. Then another 39 years before the last one in 2011. The Patriots won a championship in their 42nd season, fortunately, the waits have been shorter since that first one.

Tom Petty is right - the waiting is the hardest part.

How can these guys be teammates through this? Hoffman's GF sounds like a real tool. I'd read elsewhere another of the Sens' wives more or less backed up what Karlsson's wife alleges as true.

Yeah, I’ve been following the story, that’s crazy. Literally.
One or both of those guys won’t be on the Sens next year.
But who would take Hoffman with that nutbar tagging along?

You get a like for a spot-on use of the word ’literally.'

I feel bad for Sens fans. The fallout from this nonsense will set the franchise back, and they weren't exactly on the right track to begin with.

That was literally the first time I’ve used the word literally in a literally correct use.

Oliver Ekman Larsson (possibly spelled incorrectly) signed an 8 year extension for $8m/yr to stay in Arizona, starts after next season. Huge commitment for both.

And that sets the stage for future free agents. Carlson should likely get $8m now, and that easily puts Karlson and Doughty at $10m+ after next year.

Still befuddles me how a team gets to game 7 of the conference finals...within one goal of the Finals, then falls off the face of the hockey world the next season. Especially with no major roster changes.

Methinks you are right...blow it up and start over anew somewhere else.

Latest rumors are Karlsson has finally asked for a trade.
He deserves to get out of that situation, and the Sens management should help facilitate it as quickly as possible.
He’s a class act, and has had a year no parent should ever have to go through, and all that on top of a brutal situation in Ottawa. He’s earned a fresh start.

Besides, I hate the Sens. And they are easier to hate without Karlsson.

Perhaps it's just me and my dislike for the Capitals, but everywhere you turn there's Ovechkin and the Cup appearing everywhere. The sports media acts like its HIS Cup, and that HE was the one that won it, not his team. And frankly, I've yet to see a snippet showing anybody else on the Caps holding the Cup.

Maybe I'm just being grumpy because my team didn't win it, but I don't remember Crosby, Toews, Chara, Dustin Brown, etc, parading around everywhere like it's their own personal trophy, nor the media gushing over those captains they way they are for Ovi. :rollno:

Sour grapes? Maybe. But am I right in my observations? I'm thinking yes. ;)

If I read things right, Trotz would get a raise of $300K to $1.8M per year. He wanted more, since Babcock & Quenneville make $6M, and Julien makes $5M. Caps wouldn't budge nor would they give him the 5 yrs he wanted. Curious what they'll pay Reirden.

The Islanders' Lamoriello will likely be lighting up the phones getting Trotz in the fold.
