NHL Regular Season 2017-18

Right there with you. Watched until the final buzzer, then changed channels. I couldn't stomach watching Wilson or Smith-Pelly or Eller raising the Cup. Happy for Orpik and Holtby, though.

I've got to acknowledge the Caps were the substantially better team in this round. They played with a drive and intensity that was never seen in Washington before. Now the question is do they offer Trotz a new contract?

I’m a bit embarrassed to admit this, but tonight’s was only the 4th or 5th playoff game I’ve watched this Spring...the first time I’ve seen the Caps.

My Rangers had an embarrassing season, and sorry to say, I just sorta lost track of the whole thing this Spring.

I’ve been watching this beautiful sport since before Goalies wore masks.

Perhaps that buys me enough credibility to allow me to observe that the Knights just Could Not have reached June playing the kind of game I watched tonight!

Caps just hangin’ out in the slot...
Mark Andre’ Fleury having to stop 4-shot flurries time after time after time! C’mon, y’all, couldn’t ya give ‘m a li’l help?!!
Absolutely NO blue line contain...
No body...No soul!
They just looked spent...and the team that’s considered the Best in the NHL only beat them by 1?

That might have been the worst Stanley Cup Finals game I’ve ever seen...really disappointing.

Congrats Caps...though I wasn’t impressed.

Is now the time that I demand that you Stay Off My Lawn?

I thoroughly agree with dangnewt...40 years is More than enough time to wait for The Cup to come home...

I wanna put dangnewt in my time machine and send ‘im back to Nassau Coliseum during the early 80s, while the Islanders we’re hosting my Rangers...and the House was, literally, shaking with that crowd of bullies chanting “1940! 1940!! 1940!!! 1940!!!!”

Gawd!
It’s still ringing in my ears... o_O

I can still taste the tears.

So jealous.
I can’t wait til my Leafs win the Cup. I think it will literally be emotional for me.

I've been a Hawks fan since I was a little kid. My folks shared season tickets with another family and we took turns going to games at the old Chicago stadium. Saw Stan Mikita's 500th goal.

So I know what's it's like to struggle through decades of failure. And I know the immense satisfaction of watching my team win finally Lord Stanley's Cup in 2010. Then, again in 2013 and 2015.

Of course, this year they didn't even make the playoffs. Good times, bad times.

I really wanted to root for the VGK's this year because of the way their year played out. It would have been the sport's story of the decade if they'd managed to win the Cup in their inaugural year. But I just couldn't jump on the bandwagon.

Well, now the Silly Season begins in the NHL. Can't wait until July 1...where will Tavares end up?

Will Erik Karlsson head to Vegas? How about John Carlson? Not beyond the realm of possibility that both become Golden Knights.

Who will get bought out? There are a few decent players that seem to be candidates for buyouts...Nick Bonino, for one. Brooks Orpik is another, and although at the end of his career, can still provide top-four minutes of solid defense. Both back in the 'burgh wouldn't break my heart at all.

First month of the season is a lot of"what's he doing in THAT sweater?"

I can’t see buying out Bonino, he’s still a serviceable 3-4 center, and to fill his shoes, would still cost $3-4m, and would actually add to their cap with his buyout cap hit figured in.

Orpik is interesting, his stat sheet doesn’t look great, but he’s a case of being better than his stats show.
His buyout would save them $2.5m this year, but cost them $ 1.5 after year when his contract is up.
So I think they’ll ride it out. But who knows, every penny counts.

I’m more interested in the Subban rumors.
Everyone hates him, or so it seems, but he’s an elite player.

Karlsson wants out, he doesn’t seem like a Vegas guy, but man would he make an impact there.
