And for future reference, Mr. Neal should only be referred to by his full name, The Real Deal James Neal.
That guy’s gonna put up 60 points this year, good for him.
Yeah, a seven game winning streak came to a close and that Fleury guy was amazing. 2.0 seconds left before OT. I was counting on getting a point for OT-the bolts need all the fat they muster for the stretch. I was impressed with the expansion team Vegas coming from 2-0 down. A very good game and coaching-good line changing.
Bruins have been getting a ton of production from rookies this year (Heinen, DeBrusk, McAvoy, Bjork). They've got a nice crop of young players that coach Cassidy has been bringing along nicely. Game-winner last night was scored by a rookie (DeBrusk), and 3 rookies scored in the 7-2 blow-out vs. Columbus on Monday.
I liked Claude Julien as a coach, but the one knock on him was that he didn't work well with new talent, especially when they made "growing pain" mistakes. He'd sit them as punishment rather than help them learn and work through it. Created a bit of animosity and ill-will within the ranks. Cassidy is the perfect coach for the B's right now IMO. There's a new jump in their step and he's not necessarily favoring veterans for playing time. Biggest need is on defense. They need one more solid, skilled d-man for depth.
Now that Rask has pulled his head out of his arse, the Bruins are looking pretty good right now. Fun team to watch. Refreshing to see all of the new talent.

Penguins trade for a goalie (Michael Leighton)who hasn't played in the NHL for four years, and was only marginally decent back then. Four seasons in the minors make you think he's gotten better? So what do the Pens do with him? Assign him to the minors (Wilkes-Barre). Can't quite figure out what you are thinking here, Jim Rutherford?
In a separate deal, the pickup of Oleksiak may actually work out with the Pens' defensive corp injured and struggling, and his size (6'7") can't hurt. We'll see.

Yep, Leighton is a head scratcher. It looks like he'll be the backup to Jarry. Maybe a good move if Leighton hadn't been out of the NHL for as long as you mentioned.
Meantime, the Pens wait another day for the impending beatdown from Columbus coming their way.

Re: Leighton. From Petrolia Ontario, about 10 miles from me. Oil Springs, near Petrolia was where oil was first discovered and drilled for in North America, it became a huge boom town... literally, they kept blowing buildings up accidentally with nitro glycerine. Then it ran out of oil, and the fun was over.
So anyway, yeah, depth for the minors.

Wish Matthews was back, but he wasn’t quite himself after his first injury, so I’m guessing they’ll be extra cautious with him this time. They’ve got one game left, then off till next Thursday, wondering if they’ll sit him out again just to give him that extra week.

I noticed that too. I just wish they'd sustain it and make sure Malkin/Crosby aren't involved.
I still don't know what Columbus sees in that Bobrovsky guy.

Bad news for any GM’s that thought they had a shot at Tavares in free agency.
I still don't see Tavares sticking around. He's already spent 8 years with a mediocre-at-best team and organization. Moving back to the 'burbs on Long Island doesn't mean the team will be any better in the near future, just better supported by their fans.

Actually both Columbus goals were scored high glove side. But you gotta give Murray a break on the second one. Totally screened, and Panarin can thread a needle with his shot.
Mike, you're right about Sedlack. But even though I'm a Jackets hater, I gotta give that guy credit. Sedlack is NOT a fighter by any stretch but he immediately and without hesitation jumped in and stood up for his teammate. Against one of the strongest guys in the league. Yeah, he likely won't want to do that again but props to him for showing some guts.
And FWIW, I'd like to see Reaves on Sid's wing a few more games. Loved it!
