Loved him on team Canada in the Olympics and World Cup, where he has to keep his cool. The guy has crazy skills and playmaking ability. But throwing an elbow like that could end a guy's career.

I noticed the same thing. At least until yesterday.

I, too, have been kind of blase the past week or two with most things, including hockey. Still tune in every night on Center Ice and go back and forth between several games but I just haven't been into it as much lately. Could just be the post-holiday blues, aka back to the old grind. The January doldrums.

At least next month the trading frenzy will heat up and that always is interesting, but lately it's been mostly anti-climactic with the salary cap negating a lot of potential deals. Still thinking Rutherford has an ace up his sleeve this spring. Maybe wishful thinking but he manages to do it every spring.

They arent going to give up that quickly on a guy who made significant contributions in back to back successful SCP runs for 2 guys with less than 30 games in the bigs between them.

I hope DeSmith stays hot though, they need to start makin' hay now.

The Wild arrived in Pittsburgh and made the Pens look like sure things to three-peat.
Cool moment when they paid respects to Matt Cullen. I sure wish the Pens hung on to him.

Yeah, I was elated watching the first two periods, when the Pens made the Wild look like a beer league team with some of their slick passing and playmaking. Didn't watch the third until about 4 minutes to go, and saw the Wild had come back with 3, making it somewhat interesting.

But there's no coach I'd rather watch when he's losing than Bruce Boudreau. I know he hates Pittsburgh from his Washington days and you can just tell how much it galls him to lose the the Pens.

Tuned in to the Jackets, Coyotes game and tuned out again half way through the first period. I was surprised to see that the Jackets won based on the awful play I saw. Their offense is atrocious.

The Bruins are bound to stumble at some point soon IMO. The all-star break might cool them off, and without Marchand and McEvoy for a stretch, they can be beaten. They have a little stretch here where they're facing the Ducks, Blues, and Leafs. I'd be shocked if they didn't drop one of those games. We'll see...

Sloppy win for the Bruins last night vs. a disappointing Ottawa team. Where is that team from last year that just drove teams crazy with pesky checking and solid goaltending? Ouch. Anyway, a win's a win.

The Skills Competition was both good and no-so-good.

Some new contests and some revisions to old favorites made it interesting.

Props to both Marc-Andre Fleury and Pekka Rine for their fine efforts in the Save Streak comp. Damn, the Pen could use THAT version of Fleury about now!

Also loved seeing top NHL stars struggle and embarrass themselves. Marchand, Kopitar, Doughty, and a few others sure had trouble completing some of those drills. Makes me feel better about my stickhandling and shooting accuracy! LOL
