NHL Regular Season 2017-18

That game last night could have gone either way IMO. Rask had to make a handful of key stops and the Bruins were outplayed the entire 2nd period. OTOH, yeah, that's another W vs. Tampa going down the stretch, who now has to be wondering if all of the early season success had them peaking too early, and now they have to figure out how to regain that advantage for the playoffs. Or do they just turn a switch? Or are the Bruins THAT good?
To paraphrase Andy Warhol's quote about "15 minutes of fame"...we now have Scott Foster's 14:01 of fame. Great story.
Another Penguins game, another incredible goal by 87.
Every year, there are a couple of teams that catch my eye, and I try to watch them when possible. The Panthers have been on my radar the past few years, and this year the Devils are one of those teams I enjoy, even though they are a division foe of my Penguins. Last night's match was a good, hard-fought game, with a playoff-like edge to it. Could potentially be a match-up if the Devils can hold on to their wild card slot and get into Round 2. Shouldn't be a problem for NJ to qualify, though. I'd rather see the Cats in there but doesn't look likely the way Florida's been giving away wins lately.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. The whole emergency goalie thing is an interesting NHL thing. One of those oddities that makes hockey far more interesting than other sports to me.

They fully admit to being homers, but if the B's are screwing up or the other team makes a good play, they don't hesitate to mention it. I've learned a lot about hockey from Jack and Brick and the studio guys especially Billy Jaffe.
The Marlins(yeh,I know-baseball)fired a good play-by-play man-and the year b4,a color man,'cause he wasn't a "homer",so w/ apologies to Yankee fans, Derek Jeter can kiss my keester at the corner of Flagler St. and Miami Ave. and I'll give him a week to draw a crowd-prolly more people than show up at Marlins Park.
Gotta admit, that's why I like the Canadian networks (again, I "think" I'm not being biased, lol). They really seem to be pretty fair. Sure, they are playing to a Canadian audience, so the stories lean to the Canadian side, but the announcers are not afraid to comment either way, positively or negatively, for whatever teams are playing. I think because they are broadcasting to a nationwide audience, and not just a local market.
When I watch the Wings games, listening to Mickey Redmond (who I love, old-time hockey guy) it's all about the Wings, even when they are sucking, lol

I gotta admit Bob Errey is definitely a homer, but he also can comment fairly when necessary. Just last night he pointed out that when Sid appeared to close his hand on the puck (pulling it out of the air) that most of the time that would have been called, and admitted that he got away with that one. There have been other instances of neutrality but I will admit he goes off the deep end sometimes with his fan-boy commentary for the home team sometimes.
Yeah, I get "homers" (looking at you Joe Bowen....HOLY MACKINAW!), but these guys take it to a whole new level. Have heard them a few times...."well, even though the B's are losing 5-1, I don't think the score is at all indicative of the play". But is is interesting, waiting for what platitude they will come up with next.
stupid autocorrect makes as many mistakes as it fixes. haha
Last night it seemed like the B's got tired of being physically tossed around, case in point, Accari throwing his body around and then Tukka and Pastrnak fights haha, essentially sticking up for themselves physically.
I live in S.FL and I gotta say the Canadian coverage is generally better and the breaks are more informative. 'Course it IS your game but that one guy's jackets,WOW!
I think autocorrect goes crackers on some of the players' names,like"Kjalmarsson","Sustr" and some of the Russians who need to buy a vowel or the Finns who seem to have a shortage of consonants
I've learned to tune out Jack Edwards. Yeah, over-the-top for sure. Andy Brickley (color) and Billy Jaffe (intermission) are always balanced and realistic with their assessments IMO. They're worth listening to.

Don Cherry is a great man, and his outfits are something I wish I could wear.
Jack and Brick are absolute homers, but I'd prefer their enthusiasm over someone a little more measured. I grew up with Bob Miller and my Kings, and he was great too, but the Boston market can handle someone a little more zany than the LA hockey market of the 80s and 90s.
Jack's main problem is that he won't let things go. Like, he can't stop making snide comments about Marchand not getting calls when opposing players run him. Which is true, and I love Marchand, but come on. Dude doesn't deserve calls.
