NHL Regular Season 2017-18

Just watched the"B"s take the Flyers in OT. Helluva game whoever you like-or hate.;)
Think you got the backwards.
Yeah, the Flyers got the win in OT with another sweet goal from Giroux. The Bruins scored with 3.8 seconds left in regulation to salvage a point and send it to OT. That would have been a heartbreaker if the Flyers hadn't pulled out the win. But the Devils also won, and are nipping at the Flyers heels, only 1 point back.

40 minutes in, five power plays, including a 5-on-3, and the Pens have no goals.
Instead, they are helping Grubauer prove to Trotz he needs to be the #1 starter now.

-Mike
Yep, there was no shortage of opportunities and chances, but Grubauer was a stone wall back there. Pens seem to run into those on a regular basis...goalies who have the best night of their career against them.

Pens have that "x" next to their name, so, they made it that far. I'm still not expecting much after round 1.

I saw that. The headline over at PPG said something about the run for a third SC officially has begun.
Sh-yeah, OK. More like another fabulous flame out.
I want nothing more than to see Vegas win the SC this year.

I can see them taking out PHI, and putting up a good series against CBJ. After that, I doubt they can put 4 wins together against the rest of the stack.

^ Oh, that guy and his gutter humor. :blackeye: I guess being a Jackets fan will cause that. ;)

I can only try to be optimistic about the Pens getting far this year. Of course, I'd love to see that three-peat, but realistically I just don't feel it. But as long as they don't lose to Philly and can stick around long enough to screw up the Capitals chances of advancing, it won't be a total loss. Love Trotz but it stops there.

Not sure about all the doom and gloom Pens fans. Okay, defence is a bit suspect (same can be said a LOT of teams) and some people don't like Murray, but when you can roll out Sid, Gino and Phil you always have a chance.

You make a good point about our top three, but saying the D is "a bit suspect" is like saying Katrina was just a storm.

We've all talked about missing Ian Cole, but I'd love to have Hainsey back there as well. He's been doing pretty well for your guys from the occasional Leafs' games I've watched.

Hainsey has been one of our steadiest D-men all year long. Great pick up by the Leafs, helps with all those kids we have.

Reaves as well.
Perhaps someone should slap Letang upside the head and remind him to play defense first, then look for offensive opportunities. Not the other way around.

-Mike

Even though Reaves only played single-digit minutes most nights, his presence carried a lot of weight. Teams just wouldn't take as many liberties with 87, 71, and 81 when they knew big #75 was a few feet away.

Over the years I'd always thought Milan Lucic was exactly what the Pens needed...a big, nasty forward who intimidated yet could still score occasionally. Oilers will probably look to move Lucic's contract over the summer, but even though he's over the hill he'd still be a good presence in the 'burgh. At a reduced price, however. Maroon might be another one they should look at.
