NHL Regular Season 2017-18

He is still a good D-man, but from what I have seen watching the B's this year, he has definitely lost a step (or maybe two..), even before he was hurt. Not nearly as dominant as a few years ago.

Yup. Chara still has enormous value, but I think that is more on special teams rather than regular shifts. His reach is incredible and a key to the Bruins success on the penalty kill, and he's not someone to mess with in a fight, either, which helps protect the skill players. But he can be slow moving the puck, and makes more bad clearing passes than you'd like to see. McQuaid suffers the same problem, and both he and Chara are long in the tooth, which really shows when you compare them to the younger players McAvoy, Miller, Grzelcyk, and Krug, all of whom have quicker feet and are great at puck movement.

Ok guys, who should win the Hart? Lots of MVP candidates out there this year, and most of them are hard to discredit.

MacKinnon
Kucherov
Malkin
Kopitar
Taylor Hall
McDavid
Marchand
Wheeler
Giroux

FWIW, my top two picks would be MacKinnon followed closely by Hall. Where would the Avs or Devils be without those two guys?

Regulation + OT wins is higher for Pens (43) than CBJ (39)
And the Pens 3-0 over CBJ this season.

I understand the tiebreakers between the two teams but,... deleted.....

Edit:Just figured it after typing out a too long post, lol.
It's all on the Panthers, they hold the ROW tiebreaker if they win their final 3 games, and the Jackets lose their remaining 2.

That hurt my head.

Freddie. Don't think there is anyone "more valuable to his team" out there.

Why did I know you were going to nominate him? LOL

Seriously, his name crossed my mind as I was putting that list together. The dozen or so Leafs games I've watched this season confirm your assessment of his value to the team. Imagine if they had a decent defensive corp. Same could be said for my Penguins, too. :(
