Caps get a lucky bounce to steal one in Columbus. Shot off of Bobrovsky, then off of Werenski, and finally off Eller's foot and trickles into the net. Not exactly ESPN highlight reel stuff, but it still counts all the same.
Without Hornqvist, we'll see how the Pens do tonight in Philly. I'm a hopin' it's a repeat of Sunday's game, at least the final result. Going home for game 5 up 3-1 would be nice.
Oh, and what can you say? Props to the Golden Knights, and their historic sweep. All one-goal games, too.

Real bad news for the Flyers. Sean Couturier was hurt in practice yesterday. (Lower body - looked like a knee.) He knew he was hurt right away. Hurled his stick at the end boards in frustration. He was coming down the left wing and got clipped by Gudas. The NHL Tonight guys were talking like it was an intentional "dirty hip check" by Gudas. I watched it at least 6 times though, and to ME, it looks like Gudas was looking the other way across the ice and never even saw Couturier.
A real shame, because along with Giroux, Couturier has been one of the best two players on the team this year. I'm hoping it's not serious, but Giroux said it doesn't look good. Coots needed help getting off the ice. More playoff bad luck for the Flyers...

That sucks. Gudas isn't the cleanest player-had him in TB for awhile- but I doubt he'd injure a teammate intentionally.
Interesting stat. How did that work out for the '70 Pens?
What a frustrating series to watch as a Kings fan. Usually when Quick plays as well as he did in game 1 and the Kings lose 1-0 the team rallies for him in the following game or two. Looks like they didn't have it this year. Fleury and Quick both played amazing. I had hoped that dumping Sutter as coach the Kings' offensive setbacks would be gone but that didn't work. I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings dump their coach and find someone with a little more of an offensive focus.
I had to look it up since I wasn't alive then. They lost in the next round to St Louis, four games to two. St Louis won the first two, the Pens the next two, then the Blues closed out the series with two wins.
Good news for Las Vegas though, the Blues won't be waiting for them in the next round.

Well, the Wild/Jets series should end on Friday in Winnipeg. Wild didn't stand much of a chance to begin with. No Sutter, now no Parise who scored in all 3 of the first games, it's pretty much a done deal. Not sure who I'll migrate to for the rest of the playoffs. Not the Jets. Hate them. Byflylsdfkjhflin drives me crazy. He crosschecks all day long and never gets called. Oh well. Just another whiney Wild fan I guess. Sure wish we had some more size and guys to counter the "big Buff" types.
....and then St. Louis became cannon fodder for Bobby Orr and Co.
Actually, they were originally the California Seals, then the Oakland Seals, then the California Golden Seals.
Even better news for Las Vegas since Bobby Orr won't be waiting for them either.

I agree. I was shocked that the NHL Network guys would even INSINUATE that it was intentional. Sure looked accidental to me; and I can't imagine it would be otherwise.
There's a difference between pushing someone at close range with your stick and doing it with a three foot run at him. Thats the cross check distinction. Really now, if it was as heinous as you purport, the ref corps would know and watch him for infractions; they are professionals. Fair nuff on not going for them though, I wouldn't expect any Americans to cheer for the Jets. I might even find it offensive.

I know I'm a detractor of Murray and have been down on the Pens, but they all played solid 60 minutes tonight. If they can keep this up, it'll be a good run for them. I think they can put the series away at home on Friday.
Got my wish about a repeat result tonight. And they got their 5 goals, which seems to be their number against Philadelphia all season.
Murray was great when he needed to be, and Sid passed Mario's playoff points record. Even Milbury and Jones were calling this series over and done. Don't think the Pens will be as presumptuous, though.
And Flyer fans, I honestly do feel bad for Couturier. Never want to see a good young player hurt like that, rival opponent or not.
