NHL Regular Season 2017-18

Got my wish about a repeat result tonight. And they got their 5 goals, which seems to be their number against Philadelphia all season.

Murray was great when he needed to be, and Sid passed Mario's playoff points record. Even Milbury and Jones were calling this series over and done. Don't think the Pens will be as presumptuous, though.

And Flyer fans, I honestly do feel bad for Couturier. Never want to see a good young player hurt like that, rival opponent or not.
I didn't see what happened til a few minutes ago. I just heard he was out, and his presence was obviously missed and changed the complextion of the Flyers. I'm guessing he'll be back for the next game.

Insane. 23 years old and going for a 3rd cup.
That's an incredibly simplistic stance to take.
In the 2016-17 playoffs: Fleury carried the team through the first two rounds. In total, Fleury played 15 games, Murray played 10.
In the 2015-16 season, Fleury single handed carried the team (58 games played, 35 Ws). Only reason he didn't play the playoffs was due to getting a concussion right before the post season.

Murray seems to be pretty alright, but it gets a little under my skin when people are so quick to give him the credit, without realizing how he got where he has -- on the coattails of Fleury.

Why should he not get credit for being a consistent playoff winner? How did Fleury's "coattails" help him win 35 playoff games in the past 3 years?

I said nothing about his consistency. He can be consistently beaten glove side high too, but I didn't call that out in that post. Just pointing out that the past two seasons he heavily rode on Fleury. And, it's good that he did - he was able to get up to speed quickly and also had a great mentor, which pays off immensely (much like kids getting put on Crosby's line). I was simply highlighting that it wasn't only Murray who got them where they were the past two season - Murray has a lot to thank Fleury for, and people often forget, overlook, or diminish that.

No, you just said he doesnt deserve credit for helping this team accomplish what it has in the past 3 years, like Fleury actually won those games for him.

I never took a "simplistic stance", I didn't take ANY stance. I stated a matter of fact - he's 23 years old and he has 2 cups. Maybe you could point out where I said "MATT MURRAY WON THEM THE CUPS SINGLE HANDED HE'S PATRICK ROY BRODEUR AND SAWCHUK ROLLED INTO ONE OMG OMG OMG".

How thin must your skin be where you'd get offended over 10 words? Must not be getting laid. Save your lectures for someone who cares.

Awright. 5 for fighting!

Murray, Fleury, Murray, Fleury. Here we go.
I find it curious that those who love Murray fail to recognize, or just choose not to mention it, the impact of having Fleury in the locker room the last two years.
It is true, Fleury did not win the games where Murray was on the ice.
It is true that having someone like Fleury in the locker room, on the ice every day for practice, as a mentor, as a friend, etc makes a huge impact.
Roll this back to 2015. Everything is identical, except Murray is the goalie and DeSmith is his backup. Do the Pens win the 2015 SC? How about 2016?
In my opinion, no. Fleury played a huge role in Murray's development and Murray did indeed ride on the coat tails of Fleury the last two years.
To Murray's credit, and I think he is an all around great guy, he has acknowledged and thanked Fleury for being a mentor.

I'm not sure what my sexual relations have anything to do with this. Guess you have nothing better to say or something, but, I'd keep yourself in check (note the rules, eh?).
I don't really have thin skin. I was just disputing the fact that Murray won the cups. He might've been the starting goalie for the finals, but, Fleury did a lot of the heavy lifting to put Murray there.

But hey, whatever. We're down to personal insults now and not a discussion, so, I'm out of this particular discussion now. I guess have fun continuing to think what you will about my sex life and how thick or thin my skin is. Enjoy!
