Honestly, I use that part of the pre-game to grab an adult beverage.
1. Find volume button on remote.
2. Press down arrow.
3. Profit.

If Rask pulled off his mask or knocked the goal off its pins, with an official watching he'd get a delay of game penalty. I hear ya, that Rask tends to come off a bit of a douche, but without his blade, he had no ability to push off to get in position to make the save. Still, he's got to keep his head and do anything he can to stop the puck instead of worrying about the official next to him who may not have immediately grasped what had just happened to his blade. Official's discretion whether to stop play or not, and sometimes you just have to take your unlucky breaks and move on. Surprisingly, this seemed to focus Rask and he had a good game.
Given the offensive pressure that Tampa was putting on Boston in that sequence, I can understand why the refs didn't blow the whistle. The NHL needs to address in the offseason, either the ref blows it dead right away or he waits until the other team loses possession. I wish Tuukka had stayed in the moment and at least had tried to be big, but he was the reason they were even in the game at that time so I can't be too upset. The TB surge at the beginning of the game was relentless.
ETA: It is a fair question whether a skate blade for a goaltender is a safety issue or not. I don't care which way the NHL comes down on the question, but it is better to put it in the rulebook rather than rely on ref's judgement.

I look at it as sort of a freak accident. How often do goalie skate blades detach? Do we need a rule?
Most of the time, a stoppage would probably happen before a goal is scored, or the D sees the problem and clears. The odds of having this kind of thing result in a goal are profoundly improbable, surely. It’s puck luck. Even then, the refs give a makeup call and we all get on with our lives.
And I say this as a Bs fan.
Rask lost it, then regained it. That’s by NO means a guarantee with him, ever.

I did enjoy how the commentators were even getting in on the Glove-Side-High Murray observation. They had a few moments talking about it in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Some of the goals he gave up were bad, when the team needed him to stand up the most (bad changes, bad give aways).
I don't know if Wilson should be penalized for his hit on Dumoulin. Either way, losing him sucks for the Pens right now. The hit to the head was pretty bad, and in slow-mo it looks pretty bad for Wilson's case. At real speed though, it just seems to be "one of those things" - Dumoulin moved to try to avoid one hit and instead, Wilson nailed Dumoulin's head with his shoulder.
Bad play all around on the Pens tonight. Hope they can fix their issues going into game 3. Hopefully Malkin will be back as well - his presence, especially on the power play, is missed.

But even with the volume down, you still have to look at that clown. All he needs are floppy shoes and a big red nose.

The Wilson hit...yeah, may or may not have been intentional but the guy's got a long history of hurting players with questionable and cheap shots.
The person(s) in the NHL office in Toronto who have their heads up their backside. Puck clearly over the line, even behind the post. Every commentator and analyst said it was a goal.
The officiating was horrible all game. Beagle mugs Rust, interferes with him, then cross-checks him to the ice...no call. Half a minute later Crosby has a ticky-tack one-handed 'hook' on Backstrom and gets sent to the box. Lots of stickwork by the Caps (Oshie, Eller, Orlov), during play and after each whistle, but not one was ever called.
MIlbury's comments on Kuznetsov slashing penalty near the end of the game, calling him stupid, was funny. But when they've been allowed to get away with that stuff all night, why wouldn't he do it?
Pens better turn it around quickly. Murray was awful yesterday, I was actually hoping they'd put in Jarry. If Pekka Rinne can get pulled, so can Matt Murray.

I suppose I should be upset about the Pens loss, but I'm not. For a few reasons, which I shall share with youn'z.
1) Murray has never been able to stop a glove side high shot, so it's not surprising.
2) It took the Pens six games to beat a crummy Flyers team, so it wasn't like they were going to sweep this series.
3) It's the Caps.
As for the Wilson hit, sure would have been nice to have Reaves to send out on the ice after that hit. The Pens don't have anyone like that on the roster anymore, so expect that type of play from the Caps to continue.

Yep, I had the same thoughts exactly. The Pens have never been a 'tough' team, in the physical play sense, like the Flyers and Bruins were for years. They had Sestito, Asham, Laraque, and a few others that slipped my mind at the moment, but those guys were short-timers and never consistently in the lineup. But at least Reaves suited up most nights and would be ready to keep opponents in line when necessary. A tough guy and a steady Dman should be at the top of Rutherford's summer shopping list. Your mission, JR, is to find the next Byfuglien/Chara/Ristolainen.
