NHL Regular Season 2017-18

Matt Murray with a late save that reminded me of the one Fleury made to win the cup in Detroit.
I jump on Murray whenever I get a chance, but tonight I can not. He stood tall and made every single save he needed to to preserve that win.
Then again, it is the Caps, so it's not that big a deal to beat them. :D

-Mike
That save you're talking about (I think there were 2 1/2 minutes left) was a beauty. The puck WAS up on end a bit, so the Cap couldn't control it like he wanted to. But a game saver for sure.

I was thinking about you Mike when Murray gave up those first (and as it turned out - ONLY) two goals high glove side! ;) But he did redeem himself. When the Caps scored 17 seconds in, then later took a 2-0 lead, they appeared to be well on their way toward conquering their playoff demons. But you could almost see the confidence seeping out of them after the Pens cut the lead in half. Then when they tied it, the Caps must've been thinking, "Oh ####!! Here we go again..."

17 seconds in, and I sent Mike this message: "Seriously Murray?"
I, like Mike, have been critical of Murray. _Especially_ that glove side high that he seems to never really work on. But, I'll also quite happily admit that other than that, he played a pretty dang solid game, even as the team in front of him broke down plays and gave Capitals many great opportunities that Murray ended up turning away.
Hopefully the Pens can start up a bit better on Sunday. I really hope that Malkin and Hagelin are back.

Watching Vegas though... damn. They're going to be very tough to beat. Sharks just have nothing working.

Knights stumbled beginning in February and unlike the Jets they never really bounced back. So yeah, no.

The 7-0 win yesterday would say otherwise.

Well, Preds were good, Hellebuck’s 47 saves were the difference.
Gonna be a helluva series, me thinks.

Runners had an unusually bad off night.

Go Jets!

Edit: Winnipeg only had 18 shots on net? Wow!

Winnipeg, often the butt of jokes for Canadians (or so I've heard), now the last hope for a proud nation of hockey fans.

Exactly.
Well, we’ve all had our laughs at them. But they are less despised than a lot of teams up here. They have fluctuated between players, and hapless. But they are a different team this year. So, like me, lots are jumping on the bandwagon at this point.
And their fans are ridiculously hardcore. So kudos to them, they’ve earned it.

And as a general rule, we giggle hardest at the Oilers (worst GM’s ever) and the Canucks (love the Sedins, glad they are gone so the team can rebuild... equally stupid GM’s).

And the Canadiens... there’s no grey area. You’re either a Habs fan, or hate them. There is no middle ground.

Ottawa is equally despised by Leafs and Habs fans.

And the Flames... who?
