NHL Regular Season 2017-18

Didn't see any of the Pens-Jets game but I checked my app as the first period was winding down. Thought it was a typo...Jets up 5-0 after ONE period? I'm thinking, did they bring back Niemi? Nope, twas Mr Murray stinking up the ice.

Actually it's kind of an all-round stench so far this season...team defense can be great some nights and non-existent others. Scoring has been down, too, a lot of one-goal wins it seems.

My guess is a lot of it has to do with playing well into June these past two seasons, coupled with a bunch of consecutive night games early in this season. Not making excuses, but add in the fact that they can't play with the intensity shown in the playoffs for an entire 82 game season. Saving it for April, eh? Hope so...

All kinds of good games on the schedule tonight.

Hey look who the Coyotes beat, in OT, for their first win of the season with former Pen Alex Goligoski leading the way. First star of the game too!

Flyers confound again. The Coyotes? Really? :meh:
I know, right?! But the Flyers were fortunate to even get a point out of it. Had to give them credit for getting two goals late to tie it up and send it to O/T. I felt bad for the kid, Travis Sanheim, who turned it over instead of taking the shot. That turnover led to the winning goal.

Going back a game, it's hard to believe there was no suspension (or even a penalty) on Komarov for boarding Gostisbehere. His (Gostisbehere's) presence was definitely missed last night, and I don't know how long he'll be out of action. Can't remember who it was now, but another Flyer got boarded last night without a call.

Martin Frk on the Wings, I was watching a game recently and we were laughing about that, cant recall any others, let alone anyone ever with no vowels in their name. Excellent trivia question when you’re out with the boys.

He's the only one. I was watching the game tonight, and they were talking about it.

Pens were lucky and/or very good, especially during those last few minutes of the game. Murray looked like a two-time Cup winner for most of the game last night.

Still, Rutherford needs to get those bottom two lines some help. McKegg always gets an 'A' for effort, but there's not much else going on. I keep waiting for players like Kuhnhackl and Sheahen to start generating some offense but either way more productive bodies are needed if the Pens are going to contend or even dream of repeating.

That loss is all on you Maatta.
Jarry plays lights out for 63 minutes, then you drop the puck in his lap in OT after skating yourself into a bad spot and you didn't know what to do anymore? That was a punk move on your rookie goalie.
Dang Maatta, I thought you were starting to turn the corner too.
You to Malkin. How about you stop playing fancy boy with the skating and passing and instead take over games like you used to and start putting shots on goal?

On a good note, the Pens have solid answers at backup for Murray. This will give Rutherford time to find a vet for the playoff run.

Yeah, that Calgary game was one I thought the Pens were going to win in OT after Letang/Hornqvist tied it up. Pens had all the chances during the 3-on-3, but as always, tried to get too fancy. The best takeaway from the game is Jarry looked phenomenal , all things considered.

After a few games, I'm convinced Sheahen is a total bust. The guy does absolutely nothing out there...no offense, won't hit anybody, marginally good at shadowing an opponent, average at face-offs. And is getting paid over $2 million. <smh> Color me unimpressed so far.

When they Picked up Sheahan my first thought was “geeze, they really are desperate for center depth”. Detroit basically gave him away to get him off the cap.
