Canes came out hard and fast in the first 5 minutes and the B's survived, the second 5 wasn't much better. Thank God Tuukka is locked in.

If the Bs hold on in these last five minutes, it's hard to see how the Canes can ever apply more pressure than they have tonight. And the Bs are very beatable in this game, too.

Tukka was not letting that game go. Bummer for the Canes. They tried everything short of face licking to get Boston off their game and came up short.

I remember the Flyers coming back on Bruins after being down 3-0. Chara, Bergeron, Rask, Marchand, and Krejci were on that team. The first two games were close and could have gone either way so the 3-0 lead was somewhat misleading. Great job by the Flyers who went to the Finals that year.
That said, this series feels different in a good way for B's fans. I thought it would take longer to close out CBJ and was wrong. I'm sure the players who were here in 2010 will remind the others that it is not over unless they put in the effort of the first 3 games.
As a Kings fan, these playoffs have gone from intriguing to horrifying for me. At first I was all in on the upsets and comebacks (except for SJ). Now 3/4 of the remaining teams are awful to me. I was pulling for Carolina because I love Justin Williams and Boston has had enough sports success this year alone to last a decade (plus Marchand is a turd sandwich). In the west I have to root for the Blues because, once again, as a Kings fan, the Sharks are the worst. Really as long as someone beats SJ I'll be semi-happy. If it's Boston and St Louis in the final I will have a hard time finding a rooting interest. There's always next year...

I still cannot understand for the life of me why people feel that hockey games should be determined by calls that depend on a guy on the ice seeing them. I understand the need to have probably two officials on the ice to maintain order, but why for love of the game shouldn't scoring plays be reviewed? It would take about five seconds! Offsides? Are you telling me that one person watching monitors can't determine offsides? Sports officiating is so outdated and I really don't care for the argument that you can't take the human element out of the game. You still have split second judgement calls that would hinge on rules interpretation, but for clear yes or no violations why do leagues insist on using technology standards of 1917?

I grew up in Johnstown, PA (where "Slap Shot!" was filmed). As a teen, I used to go to the Johnstown Jets (ECHL) games. The Jets were who the Charlestown Chiefs were modeled after in the movie.
Anyway, the fans at those Jets games were brutal when they felt that the Ref made a bad call. There was one guy at all the games with a trumpet. Whenever a call went against the Jets, the trumpeter would blare out, "Three Blind Mice"...
(Back then, there were only 3 officials - not 4. One Referee and two Linesmen.)

Here's the thing that gets me...Landeskog's offside infraction as he was exiting the ice had no effect whatsoever on the play nor the subsequent goal.
Here we have a blatant hand pass that DIRECTLY leads to a goal yet the league's "not reviewable" policy allows not just a goal, but at GWG in OT.
Look, I've played, coached, and (briefly)officiated at various levels and it's never as easy as it looks. But these are top professionals and FOUR SETS of trained eyes (2 refs, 2 linesmen) didn't see it? What were they watching?
Rant over. Even if they issue an apology, t'ain't nothin' gonna change the result.

I don't like it either, but none of the officials saw it so it wasn't called, and since it's not reviewable, that's the way it goes.
Sometimes you benefit from the bad call and sometimes you get screwed.

If we want to change the rules so that more situations are reviewable on video, then I'm all for that. But these are the rules we're playing under right now.

So I guess the NHL is trying to one-up the NFL with mind-bogglingly poor non-calls that determine the outcome of a game. I wonder what the NBA and MLB will come up with. Of course the NBA already had the ref betting scandal. I'm sure that's been all cleaned up. LOL. We'll see about MLB. Playoffs don't start until the Fall.
