The 'Canes are forcibly lifeless. Boston is relentless and that style of play will suck the life right out of their opponent.
I watched them do it to the Pens more times than I care to remember.

Oh, I agree. They (Carolina) came into this series on fire, and now it has people wondering what happened to that team.

If San Jose comes out of the west, Boston can say....Hey Joe Thornton. Remember when we drafted you 37 years ago to start your fabulously mediocre NHL career? We're going to end your career as well.

I wouldn't count out San Jose's best players. There's four of them in the pic below and it's amazing that SJ doesn't get called for too many men on the ice all the time, as there are seven sharks on the ice just in this photo alone by my count.

Anybody used to get The Hockey News? I had a subscription for years and I only remember two covers of all the issues I got. The first one had Yzerman and the cup on the cover and for some reason this one always stuck in my head:

Maybe when Thornton finally hangs it up that's one more useless piece of information I can let go of. It would be nice to only remember useful information, right?

HA! I totally remember that cover. I was just telling my ten year old last night how I remember when Thornton was drafted and a lot of it has to do with getting the Hockey News and seeing this cover. I had to look up the year and I was only 14!

Thornton seems like a decent guy but I hope he doesn't get his cup. I still harbor ill will toward him for eliminating the Kings in 2011 and sliding across their logo at center ice in OT. Sure, the Kings got them back with the reverse sweep in '14 but I have a hard time letting things go.

If SJ comes out of the west then, ugh, go Bruins I guess.

Only hope is the STL/SJ series goes to 7 and the Boohooins momentum tanks from a long layover. Either way I'm rooting for whichever team wins the WCF

Saw a headline that the officiating staff that let that hand pass go are being removed from the playoffs.

I know that's fairly typical in other sports but I've not really seen this in the NHL.

I'm one of them. The Canes had a relentless forecheck that dominated my Caps and the Isles but seemed to go missing against Boston. I don't know enough about hockey to see what the Bruins did to counter their forecheck. Just wish the Caps had figured it out the way Boston did. Oh well. How long till puck drop for the 19/20 season?

I tend to agree. They're a really strong group.

But Rask is still Rask. He's still susceptible to falling apart at the worst possible moment. I'm thinking that if Teravainen doesn't flat-out miss Rask's wide-open net less than two minutes into Game 3, we might've seen somewhat different play from both teams after that.

Or maybe not. There's only one way to find out whether the Bs are beatable, and that won't happen for another week or so. I'm hoping for a short Western series; I think a long break hurts the Bs more than it helps them this year.

Said it during the first round, still believe it....would not want to have to play St. Louis. If they can overcome the 7th Shark in the striped shirt, think they are more than capable of dealing with Boston.

Yep. I remember buying it at my local corner store and reading it all the time.
The corner store stopped selling it when they got rid of all the print media in favor of larger displays for deep fried food and soda dispensers, so I had to go the grocery store to get it.

I'm taking whoever wins the west. So far in the post season each team that's swept has lost the next round.

The Blues are beating the snot out of the Sharks. It's 4 - 0 in the 3rd and SJ looks totally dispirited. Their discipline is just gone.
