NHL Season 2018-19

In game 1, three of the four Boston goals were the result of St Louis screw ups. In game 2, two of the three St Louis goals were the result of Boston screw ups.
What was up with Marchand, tonight? He coughed up the puck on the blue line no less than six times.
Very sloppy and inconsistent play from both teams. I hope they fix that.

Not only did I not see a Boston sweep, I see a long series, and would not be at all surprised at a St. Louis win. Boston did not play bad, the Blues made them look bad. I said on this forum after watching a couple of Blue's games in round one, I would not want to have to play this team.
Okay, I have held off on this for a while, but time for a rant.....After weeks of terrific hockey, we have left standing what may be the two biggest, heaviest playing teams. Kyle Dumbass keeps preaching how the game is changing and the need to go smaller and more skilled. The two poster children for this trend are the Lightning and the Leafs, neither of which could get through even one series. It may work out in the regular season, but to have to play a long series against a bigger, heavier team is an exercise in futility. This is the third year in a row the smaller more skilled Leafs have gone down in round one to a bigger heavier team. Last two times, Dumbass responded by getting even smaller and lighter. I guess some folks just never learn. Golf Leafs Golf! Okay....rant over (for now)...

Boston played its worst game in weeks and it still went to overtime.
Their top two lines need a wake-up call for some reason, and I'd imagine last night should do that. Because once Marchand and Pastrnak stop passing and start shooting, the series should end tidily for them.

Pastrnak hasn't played well in the playoffs. Add that to Marchands not so awesome night, definitely too many turn overs
I only caught the OT period, but this echoes what the B's post-game guys were saying. They showed lowlights of Marchand and others coughing the puck up at the blue line.
Seven game series require teams to make adjustments - at minimum from game to game but sometimes from period to period. It looks like the Blues made the right adjustments between games 1 and 2; now it is up to B's to adjust for game 3.
Welcome to the world of us Pittsburgh Penguins fans. Although smaller and faster did win them two Cups, they still refuse to address the lack of a couple of big bodies who can wear down the opponents' forwards. Teams relish rushing into the Pens zone because they know they won't be getting hit too hard or too often.
I only got to see the last half of the third in last night's game but boy, did the Blues seem to have numerous chances only to be stopped again and again by Rask. From what little I saw, he was the difference-maker last night, keeping the Bruins in that game.
Question for the neutrals in this series - which team has more speed and skill? And where do the two teams stack up against the rest of the league in the Physical v Speed breakdown. My Black and Gold goggles see the B's as having a moderate advantage in the speed/skill against the Blues with the Blues having a slight physical advantage. Both teams are among the top 10 (top 5) in Physical; but I wonder if the Bruins break into the top half of speed/skill.
Since you asked...as a neutral observer (leaning toward the Blues) I see it the exact opposite as you describe. I see the Bruins D dishing more punishment to the Blues forwards than the Blues D are toward Boston's forwards. As far as forwards causing mayhem in the offensive zone, that appears pretty even. Not by much of a margin either way, but slightly more physical play leaning Boston's way, IMHO.

LOL, yeah, my Black & Gold goggles also aren't always objective when critiquing my Penguins.
I heard one of the broadcasters say that going into last nights game STL was 0-13 in SCF games, so now 1-13? Is that for real? I was not aware that they had been there three times before much less gotten swept every time. That win last night has to be a huge, huge monkey off their back.
I had to look it up to believe it. Blues were the runner-up three consecutive years (68,69,70), losing twice to the Habs and once in 1970 to the B's. ETA - all were sweeps.
More fun with finals - Boston teams are 7-3 vs St. Louis in all sports. Yes, our sportswriters keep track of stuff like this and we eat it up.

I think I'm burned out on hockey at this point.
I love it and make it the focus of my sports interests for months, but by the time June rolls around I am ready to move on to baseball, grilling, and being outside.
I'm sad the NHL has drug the season out so long into spring. We're only a few weeks from summer, sheesh NHL.

Much the same here. Even more so with two teams I really don't care too much about, but I still try to watch when I can.
Still, with what I managed to watch last night (last 10-12 minutes), it was some pretty intense and exciting hockey. Hoping the rest of the series can match that.
