NHL Season 2018-19

I heard one of the broadcasters say that going into last nights game STL was 0-13 in SCF games, so now 1-13? Is that for real? I was not aware that they had been there three times before much less gotten swept every time. That win last night has to be a huge, huge monkey off their back.
In all fairness, those first three Finals were the result of the 1967 expansion, and all the Original Six teams were in the East, while all the expansion teams were aligned in the West. So basically, somebody had to represent the West and become mincemeat for the Canadiens and Bruins. Thankfully they reshuffled the divisions a bit in 1970 and had more balance come the postseason. But yeah, the Blues were the 'best of the worst', and had to endure their indoctrination in a most unmemorable way.

That makes a lot more sense. Thanks

Agreed on the burnout. Without any real rooting interest I have yet to watch a full game of the finals, whereas before I watched pretty much all of it. Hopefully tomorrow night I can get home from rehearsal and catch the second period on, but it's not going to ruin my weekend if I don't.

Probably the biggest draw for me is that the team from the west is in the central time zone.

I think I'm burned out on hockey at this point.
I love it and make it the focus of my sports interests for months, but by the time June rolls around I am ready to move on to baseball, grilling, and being outside.
I'm sad the NHL has drug the season out so long into spring. We're only a few weeks from summer, sheesh NHL.

Totally agree. Hockey is a winter sport. The Cup should be hoisted before Memorial Day. Over the years, I've heard talk of shortened seasons/contraction, but that would mean loss of revenue and we all know that won't fly.

You hit the nail on the head, alright. Shortening the regular season is the most logical thing, but the almighty dollar dictates over logic. (That goes for all sports, not just hockey.)
Especially since as we all learned this postseason just how little the regular season actually matters. Ask the fans of Tampa Bay, Washington, Nashville, and Calgary.

This was a good image for explaining the game

Boston did only muster 4 SOGs in the 3rd?

Wow. Lot's of smug Bruins fans out there....the third goal WAS offside and should have been called back, and then no PP to start the period. He did not have possession of the puck and had both skates over the blue line before the puck entered the zone. That would have made it 2-0 instead of 4-0. Entire game changed by (yet another) bad call. That said, Boston did play a much better game, let's see what the (interim my ***) head coach can do for the Blues...he has coached brilliantly all through the playoffs.

Third was a goal because Edmondson brought the puck back into his own zone, negating the offsides

As for Berube, I can't think any reason why he won't get an extended contract after the series is over. He's proven his ability to be the coach beyond all doubt
