On one of the Pens' boards, it was suggested that now would be the time to trade Malkin, as his value will never be higher. I hope that was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

Yay, another ten game streak for the Flyers. 2nd in as many months.
Boo for what sort of streak it is.

Missed you on here, warwick.hoy. But I understand. I've been a Flyers fan since the mid-'70s. I've never fast-forwarded through so much of their games as I have this year. Absolutely horrible. I feel so bad for Giroux. I wouldn't blame him a bit if he leaves for another team after this year (and I think he will). He deserves a chance at a Cup before he retires, and it's not gonna' happen in Philly. What an embarrassment this team has become...Yay, another ten game streak for the Flyers. 2nd in as many months.

In the 60s, the Flyers were on NBC(?)almost every weekend. That's when I first became interested in the game(there wasn't a lotta hockey in Miami then). They seemed to pretty well. Not so much anymore.
I feel kind of bad for all the GM's out there right now. It's got to be next to impossible to properly gauge the talent level of any team, given the rotating roll call of players as a result of the Covid list.
It's also pretty darned difficult to assess talent in the minors, with such limited games being played and in some cases no games played.
If I was a GM, I would be extremely hesitant to make any major changes to my team as frankly, I cannot assess talent that is not playing. I'd do my best to hold fast with what I have and look to a hopefully clearer picture starting in the 2022/2023 season.

I was watching an NHL game on ESPN with my dad 2 nights ago and they were listing all the upcoming games they had scheduled for premire broadcast over the upcoming week.
I mentioned to my pop that it was ridiculous how they always made sure to cover every single Pens game, as well as most games from the Bruins and a few other teams, while giving scant attention to most of the rest of the league.
Immediately after I said that, the announcer "joked" about how they seemed to be giving the Pens more than their fair share of coverage.
Yeah.

Even though they've only won two Stanley Cups, they were always a tough team to play against and would work hard until the final whistle. Not sure how it happened, but they've become a league laughingstock...
I'm having a hard time listening to the Oiler talk shows. We're in a world of hurt. Our goaltending is so so (it always looks bad when the team is playing bad), we're giving up way too many good chances and we can't score even with 2 of the best offensive players in the league. We're too easy to play against and have no toughness at all. I don't see this getting solved anytime soon with a couple trades, a new coach or gm. Another tough winter here.
I'm embarrassed. I'll never turn my back on them but this is the worst I've seen from them in a decade plus of mediocrity.
I feel like they lost they're way after trading Richards and Carter. I don't care what off ice and media shenanigans they got into, those were fun teams to watch.
The decent into madness was exacerbated by Ed Snider's death and ownership passing on to Comcast.
I feel for G too. Be deserves better as does Carter Hart and Coots.
This team needs to be blown up and rebuilt from the top down. Starting with ownership.

I anticipate a decline once Mario steps away. Combine that with the imminent departure of Crosby/Malkin/Letang, there will be some dark days in Pittsburgh soon too.

I took a listen to the FLA/SEA game on the radio Sunday evening on the way home from the gym. Seattle picked a couple of guys who can call a game. They were excellent.
Exciting game too. Florida pulled their goalie with about 2:10 left down by one and peppered Grubauer with some heavy pressure. He stood on his head and held on. An empty netter sealed it.

Props to Keith Yandle as he ties the consecutive games mark with 964, set by Doug Jarvis. Really is an remarkable feat considering the physicality of the sport, and since they're usually playing every other day, there's not much time to heal if you're banged up.
Phil Kessel is only about 24 games behind Yandle at the moment, so Jarvis my find himself going from first to third in a matter of weeks.

We miss KY here in S. FL(although the Cats seem to be doing OK). Apparently, he and the Panthers' ex coach didn't get along.

Very pleasantly surprised to see the Penguins extend Jeff Carter for two more years @ $3.125M per. When he was acquired by Pittsburgh at last year's trade deadline he'd said that this was his final year, and had planned to retire after this season.
With the Flyers, I hated this guy. With the Jackets and then Kings, I really started to admire his game, and became a big fan of his. (Amazing what not wearing orange and black does for one's perception/opinion!
) I was psyched when the Pens picked him up and despite being 37 years old, he still has the wheels and hands to contribute a lot. Nice move, Hextall! 
EDIT: With Carter at 37, Sid 34, and Geno 35, I'm guessing the Penguins probably have the oldest collection of centers in the league.

On the other hand, Fenway Sports Group has an excellent record with taking fundamentally sound franchises to the next level - Red Sox, Liverpool FC. Not to say that there might not be some dark days, but FSG knows how to rebuild.
