I know what you mean, but I played goalie in amateur leagues and it's always 10x worse to let in a soft goal.

If the opposing team scores because of a 2 on 1 with great passing and a quick wrist shot in the upper corner, then no one blames the goalie for not stopping it. In fact, if you do come up with a brilliant save, then everyone on the ice notices and thinks the sun shines out your backside.

But let in a dribbler from the corner through the 5 hole because you weren't anticipating the shot, and you look like a jackass.

DeBrusk had a hat trick by the first few minutes of the 2nd period. The first was a screened shot on a 1 v 1 just beyond the blue line that trickled through 7 hole in the first 2 minutes of the game. The second was a hard wrister from the slot on a bad giveaway that ticked off of the Quick's trapper. The third was a deflection (probably with a stick a bit above the crossbar, but not enough video to overturn). It wasn't Quick's night, he got pulled halfway through the 2nd after giving up 5.

It is starting to look like the Bruins big deadline acquisition will be................Jake DeBrusk ver2017/18. He has always been a streaky player, but I had forgotten how good he can be when he is on a hot streak. Not bad for a guy who asked to be traded in November.

Not sure what is happening in other cities, but in Boston, I'd say that Bettman is now the 2nd most popular commissioner behind only the NBA's Adam Silver. MLB's Manfred has sole possession of last place which is amazing given how badly the NFL's Goodell has treated the Patriots.

Hey all, first post of the season from the hockey wasteland that is Buffalo. Every pro sport has its bad teams, but what really hurts is the total apathy around this one. Obviously, Covid and the border situation has played a part, but the crappy product on the ice is just brutal. Maybe ownership can turn it around, but in the meantime, nobody cares. I don't. I've been priced out of games for awhile and they're barely drawing 8-9,000 a game. How about some value priced seats in the upper sections? Get some fans in the arena and make some money on parking and concessions. But what do I know? Go Bills.

Hey, maybe they can merge the Sabres and Coyotes into one decent NHL team. Just a thought! :D

That's about what the Panthers get in a "normal" year. Right now they're winning, but...

They will be for the next three years. City of Glendale decided to not renew the Yotes' lease at their arena, leaving the team scrambling to find a new home. Arizona State University's rink will be the temporary home until the new arena is built, or until the team moves to Quebec City/Houston/Kansas City.

Whoa, time to break up the Coyotes! One of the most inept offenses in the league has erupted for 17 goals in their past two games, 8 against Ottawa and 9 in Detroit. Anxious to see if they can continue this pace tomorrow night against the Leafs.

Nick Schmaltz had seven points in the Sens game, and four more against the Wings. With his recent streak, he's now at a point-per-game pace this season.

They should get at least 4 tomorrow, every one else does.

Gotta' feel for him. It's tough when you don't feel like "your" doctors don't have your best interests in mind.

Too bad he wasn't a Flyer. Their players miss entire seasons without repercussions. They get Ryan Ellis. He plays about 5 games before going out for the season. Couturier is out for the season. A whole bunch of long-term injuries. (And their horrible season reflects it, although many people attribute the Flyers downfall to poor ownership/management.)

Yeah, Fletcher sure takes a beating in the media for some of his questionable deals. Today he re-signed Ristolainen to a 5 yr/$25.5M extension ($5.1M AAV). Odd since I'd heard all season long he likely was on his way out of Philly due to many defensive zone mistakes. I'd take him on my team but not for more than $3.5M. And not for that long of term.

That surprises me as well. I thought for sure Giroux, van Riemsdyke, and Ristolainen would be gone in order to rebuild. The former two might be moved at the trade deadline. Giroux would reportedly waive his no-trade clause to go to Colorado, St. Louis, or Florida. Not sure if he's added any others. I'd really like to see him get a Cup, and it ain't gonna' happen in Philly in the near future.

The Flyers have some promising young defensemen in Lehigh Valley. The Flyers faithful will not be happy with the Risto deal. They thought he could still bring a good return in trade.
