I just saw some clown sing the National Anthem for the NY/Carolina game. What an idiot(not the only one I've seen do this). (1) It's not a song to ad lib the melody-sing it straight. (2). The line is "Through the perilous fight". NOT periless! Ain't no such word. Get it right or don't effing try it! <END RANT>

Who do we like to make the Cup finals here, guys? I like NYR vs Oilers. Anyone but Boston really. lol.

I think I would like to see the Oilers vs Boston. I think I would enjoy that series. Oilers vs The Canes would be fun too.

I played ice and roller hockey as an adult for almost 20 years, mostly as a goalie (so of course I wore a mask). But even as a skater, I wore a full face shield. I always assumed that NHL 0layers didn't because they were stupid/macho.
But after seeing that last night a player had 75 stitches, I heard that NHL players are not allowed to wear a full shield unless recovering from a facial injury. Is this true? If so, why?

That was awful. Outplayed from the start, outcoached throughout. Stupid Leafs.
Not making any Cup champion pick yet. I notice a lot of media types picking the Oilers. The same Oilers team that all year long they were saying the leaky defense and suspect goaltending won't get them far. Although I see a Cup or two in McDavid's future, not placing any bets that it's gonna happen this year.
Poor Leafs fans. I tuned in occasionally but by the third period (TB up 6-2) you could see the deflation in the Leafs players body language. Matthews, Marner, and Tavares just had that faraway look of deja vu on their faces, like "oh no, not again!" Although I hope they regroup and win this series, they will need a better performance in net to start with.

Hockey fan since '75. I've never heard of a rule against a full face shield or cage. Doesn't mean there isn't a rule, just that I'd never heard of it.
What I have heard are players complaints that a full cage limits visibility and peripheral vision, and at the speeds the game is played, you can't play your best like that. Open ice areas not as bad, but not good when in tight and crowded areas like the slot.
I can attest to that. In the men's leagues I've played in, I only used a visor (yeah, kind of stupid on my part) because the shield/cage does hamper one's effectiveness. Lucky and thankful I still have all my chiclets.

Tampa may have won last night's battle, but may lose the war. Waiting to see if the injuries from the game, primarily Hedman's, are going to carry over into the rest of the series. Tampa got through the regular season in sub-par fashion, and it's a pretty tall order to contain Toronto without Hedman healthy and playing full shifts every night.
For those who don't like the Leafs, I don't know what would be more interesting: seeing how they manage to lose, or the sh!tshow that will most certainly follow, considering the high profile additions to their roster.
Companies in the downtown Toronto towers are forbidding employees from standing near office windows for fear of folks jumping! You can feel the distaste for last nights game everywhere!
Leaf fans have been saying all season that the regular season means nothing and only the playoffs matter. Most of us are booking tie off times now! LOL
