NHL Season 2022-23

I know that some of us here in the NHL thread are not Murray fans, but so far, he's been playing superbly for the Leafs! Shutout last night against a strong Stars team, standing on his head stopping well into the 40's for shots on goal.
I had my reservations about signing him, but not anymore!
And Mitchy is still burning it up... 20 straight games with a point and counting!

Enjoy it while it lasts. With the Penguins he also showed streaks of brilliant play, then the wheels would fall off and he'd take a long time to regain his consistency between the pipes. Then repeat the whole process. He seems to be a good guy and I wish him success, but his on-again off-again play is what got him traded to Ottawa before being acquired by Toronto.

But hey, with the Jack Campbell issues in Edmonton, it looks like Dubas made the right call on the goalies during the off-season. Not too many hockey fans thought those choices were going to work out for the Leafs.

Mr. Glove Side High will break your hearts.
If he was any good, he'd be in Pittsburgh still. They sold their souls to keep him initially.

Gov. Baker proclaimed today is Patrice Bergeron Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The B's celebrated with a tidy 4-2 matinee victory over Columbus. It would have been 5-2 but goalie Jeremy Swayman's empty net shot just missed by 2-3 inches.

Since you mentioned this I have paid more attention to the broadcasts and I am hearing what you are hearing. There is a slight delay and an overall slower tempo. I haven't heard or seen anything official about it, if I do, I'll post here. He's not that old (65) and clearly loves his job so I hope that, if there is something going on, that it doesn't get any worse.

:D This reminds me of when I was a teenager. I lived in Johnstown, PA. That's the town where the "Charlestown Chiefs" played their home games in the movie 'Slap Shot!'.

Anyway, I used to go to the Johnstown Jets home games. They were in the East Coast Hockey League. Similarly to the "Chiefs", what they lacked in skill, they made up for in the rough & tumble stuff.

But one of the loyal fans had a trumpet. Every time an official made a penalty call against the Jets, the dude would play "Three Blind Mice" on his trumpet. :D

The Tortorella drama is already starting in Philly. Team having trouble generating offense? Bench your leading scorer. Yeah, that'll show them.

Sure, I get that Kevin Hayes wasn't backchecking enough to please the head coach, but benching him might have the opposite effect on a losing team. Maybe, maybe not. But it might be opening the door for him to be moved at the trade deadline.

Kevin Hayes is a good player, but he does not go all out on every shift. I have no problem with Tortorella sitting him down. Sends a message that, "Yeah, you might be a veteran, but nobody is immune from repercussions if you don't play hard on every shift.

He sat Koneckny down awhile back as well. Koneckny is now one of the hardest workers on the team.

He (Tortorella) is trying to build a consistent work ethic. The Flyers are not gonna make the playoffs this year. But Tortorella is letting everybody in that locker room know that they're gonna have to play hard as long as he's the coach. I know a lot of people can't stand the guy, but I don't have a problem with him. Might that change at some point? Possibly, but for now, I think he's taking the right approach.

He usually has around 3 years(+/-)b4 his act gets old, but he does light some fires under some @$$es.
