Watched the debacle in the desert last night. Aside from the game, could not help but notice the "arena". The lighting was so bad that there were shadows everywhere over the entire ice. I have seen better lighting in beer league arenas I have played in. Watched the World Junior game from a junior hockey league arena in Halifax right before, it was so much better. The NCAA arena the Coyotes play in seats just under 5,000 for a hockey game, there are junior hockey rinks all around Ontario that seat more. And apparently the visiting team dressing room is in the building next door, the players have to walk outside to get to and from the rink. And the building was not even full, but they plan to play there for at least 2 more years?!?! What is Buttman thinking...there are state of the art arenas in both Hamilton and Quebec City both seating over 18,000 that would sell out every night. But I guess if they give Hamilton an NHL team, Toronto would want one too. (not to mention Buffalo would never let that happen, about 1/3 of their fans travel from Southern Ontario for their games) But no such issue in Quebec City, and a custom made rivalry with Montreal would be great as well.
