NHL Season 2023-24

Another close game. I'm bummed, but the Panthers were the slightly better team tonight and over the series.
I wouldn't say "slightly." The Panthers are built for the playoffs, physically and mentally, and have the ability to turn it on. The Bruins? Not so much. This is twice now that Florida has out-gritted them in the playoffs, same way both times: they were tougher, dirtier, and much quicker to shoot. The Bruins went farther than I thought they would in what was supposed to be a "rebuilding" year. But if they can't take more than 20-odd SoG per game, they're not going to win playoff rounds against teams that will.
I say that as a Bruins fan.
We're 95+% in agreement. The Panthers are built better for the playoffs - their forecheck is amazing. The Bruins made some improvement in Shots on Goal in the last 2 games, but not enough. I thought Monty was overmatched last year in the playoffs and he did better this year, but has to get even better next year. Paul Maurice has not won a Cup in 25 seasons and 10 previous trips to the playoffs, but his experience shows and this may be his year.
The B's rebuit faster than I and most hockey fans thought they could. Assuming that they trade Ullmark, they have the money to keep their core intact and add some good players. The only key player that is getting old is Marchand, he is signed through the end of next season and I think he might stick around longer, if healthy, for an additional run at the Cup.

Meh. There's a few guys I know you dont like.
But you have to admit Florida spent a lot of time pandering for the call. Fact is, Paul Maurice has always had players that deserved an acting award
Ok, not a B's fan at all, but despite fully rooting for the Panthers, I actually felt bad for Swayman on that series-winning goal by Forsling. Swayman had made so many spectacular saves throughout their two series, only to have a relatively weak goal like that one send them home.
And Marchand showed a lot of class during the handshake line. No idea what was said between him and the Cats, but it certainly appeared respectful from both sides.

I honestly thought Colorado was going to steamroll through the West. Oops.
Dallas is playing their best hockey at the right time of the year.

The Nichushkin thing was a killer. They may have lost that game just on distraction. He's also a really gritty player that digs in front of the net
for that matter, may be why they lost to Seattle last year as well.

Now that said. Otto is a great goalie, Dallas plays good D. I did pick them myself at the start
Thank you NHL. Those two games Friday were great. Florida wasn't supposed to win, but that's the way it goes. They earned it and deserve it. My lovely wife remembered the time I was cheering for Florida when Jagr was playing for them, so when she found out Florida won the series, she asked me if I was happy Florida won. 
I sat down in the middle of the third period of the DAL/COL game and watched it until the end. Oh my, that was fun to watch. 2-1 in OT is almost as good as 1-0 in OT.

They were favored, they had home ice, they'd whupped the Bruins the year before (enroute to the Final, in fact), and Boston barely made it to the second round against perennial chokers the Leafs.
In what universe weren't the Panthers supposed to win? They've got the Bruins' number in the playoffs, I think it's safe to say.
I might have agreed somewhat if they'd had another first-round exit.
But "perennial," in the case of hockey teams, needs to extend over longer than 2-5 years, lol. Toronto's been choking for 20 years, more or less. The Bruins have a ways to go before that.
They weren't supposed to win in my mind because (a) I wanted Boston to win and (b) hockey shouldn't be played in Florida.
