NHL Season 2024-25

As an Oiler fan since the '80's living in Edmonton I was pretty dismayed after the first period and hoping Pickard would go in. Thankfully Knoblauch agreed. The turnaround was astounding. I think he won the net back from Skinner.
Pickard as in Calvin Pickard, the former Seattle Thunderbirds goalie?

I'm sure hoping Florida wraps things up at home Tuesday. Then I can look forward to the draft and Free Agency.

And after July 1, finally an end to the endless Mitch Marner rumors. FWIW, my guess is he's signing with LA. Or Dallas. Or Colorado. Or Utah. Or...
I don't see Colorado making the space for him. He's also not hard nosed enough to do what we need

Anaheim, Chicago, or St. Louis are my guesses

We could start a pool

Yeah, I was just citing the numerous rumors I'd read over the past month. He's definitely not hard-nosed enough for anybody's needs, which means he'd fit in nicely in Pittsburgh. ;). Here's hoping the coaching change will change that...Sullivan never utilized physical players (except Hornqvist).

Colorado might have been interested but after re-signing Nelson that appears doubtful. I hadn't heard any St Louis rumors, which means that might be where he ends up! Anaheim is a good possibility.

Nah. Not sure where you are hearing Colorado was interested. Hearing exactly zero of that locally

That said, Colorado has the same struggle as anyone else. Ok depth, but not enough to carry. No one who wants to chop wood in front of the net

Why they put Skinner back in boggles me. But can't blame the goalie - it's a team sport and the best team won. And next year's another chance to watch the Rangers, Canucks, and (of course) the Leafs fumble the ball again. Will the Panthers 3-peat??

I quit watching after the first period. The only way i could describe it is like the opening of a sports movie where the they emphasize how bad the team is to set up the story.
Yeah, but that was already the plot of game four...

Also, what's the last time a team lost in the finals twice in a row? Has to have been a while, no?

I for one am thrilled with the Panthers' victory, and equally glad it did not go to a Game 7.

Can't lay all the blame on Skinner... Bouchard and especially Eckholm were terrible defensively throughout the series, but even more so in Game 6.

Sam Bennett was certainly a deserving winner of the Conn Smythe, but Bobrovsky was right there, too.

Evander Kane is still a major league tool, but I'd take three of him on my team any day, minus the stupid penalties of course. Weird part is I felt that same way about Marchand and Tkachuk for many years, but at the moment I love those guys. Funny how that happens.

Now comes the fun of draft day and Free Agency right around the corner.
