Not that it is worth much, but looks like the Leafs gave them the biggest challenge.
This was actually the first thing that came to mind. Toronto didn't look too bad in retrospect…

I'm heading to Tampa this week for a work conference. I'll be staying at the Marriott right across the street from where the Lightning play.

He'd been on the trading block more often than not these past couple of years. On the upside, he's had a couple of 60 pt seasons, then a couple seasons dotted with injuries. On the down side, he plays no defense and reportedly is immature and needs some growing up. Tocchet will address both of those quite strongly, I would guess. Talent is there for this to be a huge win for Philly.

Interesting to see Marchessault bring up tax free states in his trade request. NHL might need to seek a solution to this. Free agent going to cost more depending on the state?
NHL ahead said that they wouldn't discuss it. Canadian teams pay more in taxes. It's a problem, that let's tax free teams afford another player worth just in the difference in taxes
Doesn't mean the players are worth it either way though…

The tax issue is definitely a real thing, but let's not forget that road games are taxed at that location's rates, meaning half of any player's pay is taxed at the local rate. So VGK and Florida players are still being taxed heavily whenever they play in Canada or New York or California, etc. Yeah, overall it is a benefit being based in those tax-free states, but it's not as much as a first glance would make it seem. And despite it being that way for years, it seems it has only been a hot-button issue this past year or two.
On that note, I'd hate to be a team accountant, having to deal with 31 other team's local rates coming out of every player's cheque. Makes my head spin.
