No, Fender. Stop it.

That’s gotta be one of the biggest Emperor’s New Clothes sheeple con jobs ever. I was quite happy to kiss vinyl goodbye 30 years ago. If vinyl was so great in the first place, why wasn’t there a great hue and cry over it being phased out back then, even when the mastering/fidelity on the earliest CD’s wasn’t all that great, due to the fact that they were still using the LP masters(with their baked-in limitations)? Over time, labels figured out that oversight, and of course would periodically upgrade everything. What cracks me up about people’s self-righteous embracing of vinyl now, is that it’s still coming from a digital source. I never missed the extra handling, pops, surface noise, diminished frequency range, having to turn it over in 20 minutes, any of that. If anyone wants to prove how ironically hip they are, start collecting 78’s…

Oh yeah, that turntable…a sucker born every minute.

Vinyl was phased out? I must have missed that...

Exactly, but now Gibson is a top guitar company that owns the best amp maker around. Maybe Fender could buy Ampeg from Yamaha?

Anyway they'll all be Music Tribe brands one day...

Ooooooh I don't know. That hasn't worked out well for the last few amp companies, or guitar companies, Fender bought.

You can get a superb belt drive TT with an excellent cartridge for $500 or less. No need to spend $3500. But the Fender-MoFi is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay. If they only sell 3 of them, then they have a fail. And I have no idea what Fender brings to this TT except some vague kind of old man nostalgia. ;)

In the US, by 1992, it had pretty much vanished, except for limited editions or as novelty pressings. In the UK/EU it might have lingered on.

Not really, it just never went away. CDs were temporary just like cassettes and 8-track, but vinyl persists. I still have vinyl I bought in the 70s and deck and speakers I bought in the 80s. Although the deck isn't sunburst. If Gibson made a vinyl deck would the arm be glued on rather than removable?

Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that I refuse to buy in to the vinyl revival, I'd be tempted.
It's only a revival if you ever didn't have a turntable! ;)

That said, I would no sooner buy a Thorens or Rega bass than a Fender turntable. Fender should stick to what they know how to do and their marketing department should seriously consider cleaning house and starting over 'cause.... damn. Who thought that was a good idea?!?

But you can't beat the two sleeve open up with the nice pictures and the ability to sort out seeds from your oregano spices ;)!

I will concede that your statements are legitimate opinion and probably not deserving of being labeled false. At least not all of them. ;)

Apologies.

Also, again, Fender lending MoFi their trademark in return for a licensing fee is really dumb. Fender knows zero about designing a turntable. Lol.
