No GAS. Whats next?

If you do't need anything, you don't need anything....

Theres several basses id add to the wall if money was no object.

The previously mentioned p bass and a gibson ebo will end up mine eventually.

I havnt really looked at basses in years to be honest. I always knew the jazz was next. Alot has changed since i was last into buying gear. I guess it just bugs me not knowing whats out there. Id hate to plunk money on a pbass and find out my next love was just off in the distance unknown to me

I recommend everyone have some kind of P Bass. I used to be cool on them, but they are definitely useful. They sit well in a guitar heavy mix and sound good with their tone knob rolled back in more laid back settings.

Once I had all the basses I could use -- and not being a pedal guy -- I turned to gassing for amp heads. Good, clean fun.

Don't own any of these yet, incidentally, jpegs notwithstanding.

The Rick is "semi-retired" - curious why, as you say it's still in good shape. To me, basses are tools; I don't own basses that I don't gig. Are you tring to get a collection for the sake of having them? Knowing your motivation might help us help you.

I hear this bass=tool analogy a lot and I subscribe to it as well. And I totally get what you're saying. but i was thinking about it- I have tools in my workshop that I don't use that often, but I wouldn't get rid of them just because they are seldom used. For example I have a screwdriver that I use all the time but I also have a toilet auger. Thankfully the toilets in my house rarely get jammed up. But when they do- I'm very glad I can retrieve exactly the implement I need to get the job done without having to go shopping again or order it etc...

So if basses are also tools- couldn't it be ok to have some that aren't in your main line up but you still like having in the arsenal?

And dude, this is no way a dig- just a legitimate curiosity about the analogy of bass=tool. And what's more I agree that at some point- what is the use of having a bunch of anything if you can't or don't use it?

I have bought and sold many many (many) different brands and types of bass guitars to now, after some 30 years of playing, I have settled for two active five stringers and two Rics (one being a v63, which sounds more oldskool Ric then the 4003 does). I also own a japanese P bass with customshop pickup, but that sounds dull and boring and seriously lacks bottom end compared to the Rics, Zon Sonus and Fender Marcus Miller sig V.

Don't get a P they are absolutely the most overrated instruments in the universe.

Music Man is probably outta my price range as much as a stringray would be awesome.

I agree on the maple board but it would have been a fender usa at twice the price of my MIM :(

I keep my eye open for a good pbass. I have only played 1 i liked alot and its parked ar my buddies jam spot. Its on the list for looking at but probably not this round of buying.

Check out the 63 AVRI Precision. Then we will have the same basses.
