No shorts in gig contract

I played a festival last weekend that actually specified a no shorts on stage policy in our contract. It ended up being the joke of the day backstage. I only noticed one rebel in shorts all day and he was everyone's hero.

Just have to say...I LOVE your bass!

Not usually a pastel guy but the aged guard just makes that look so cool...

As for shorts? Makes sense I guess...

I'm a fan a dressing better than your audience and if that means no shorts, so be it. Don't sign the contract if you can't abide by its terms. But what really irritates the holy heck out of me, is when they expect you to dress for the occasion and then not provide a suitable dressing/green room to change in. Mostly they laugh and point to the nearest honey bucket.

No. NOOOOOO!!!!!

Played a gig in a ritzy hotel once for an exclusive group - can't remember exactly who they were. The contract contained a lot of conditions - strict dress code, we couldn't imbibe (even though the guests were drinking), no cursing, blue humor or discussing religion or politics on stage, no mingling with the guests, where we could and couldn't go during breaks, etc. We felt like lepers, but as I recall the gig payed well.

You look like a wizard that decided to multiclass as a fighter. Such a badass look.

I must respectfully disagree. I think she looks great. Actually I was about to say the pic belongs in the I Back a Hot Singer Babe thread.

Different tastes for different folks keeps it a wide, wonderful world. :)

+1. And man she looks like she's belonging right there, right then. That's a great photo, all the way around!

That's pretty funny that they put it in the contract. If it was hot I still would have worn shorts though. If the promoter said something I'd tell him I wore them because I knew the crowd couldn't keep their fiendish eyes off my finely-turned calves just like he couldn't. I'd then interrupt his response and tell him he can briefly touch my calves if he's that interested in the hopes that makes him uncomfortable and he leaves. Works 50% of the time, all the time.

I'm not sure why someone breaking the contract and putting the band's pay at risk would be considered a hero. I'd call him a dumbass.

It's really simple - if you don't like the terms of the contract, don't play.

It’s actually not that simple, Mr. Serious Tattoo Guy...short shorts is a lifestyle choice and it’s my way or the highway!
