No shorts in gig contract

Why would you post this comment? Body shaming is always wrong. What if she reads it? That was a total jerk move, man. Nothing wrong with that lady's body. NOTHING. Got it?
SO its ok to body shame the guys who wear shorts as I've seen on this site dozens of times. Just sayin. Either way I am sure she is a nice lady and that is what counts, not weight.
I’ve been to gigs where I wished “silent tuning”
Was written in the contract.
This--- I have been in too many bands where the guitarist thought it was perfectly fine to tune up or downtune with their amp at song volume in between songs. So amateurish.

I don't even.

When did I say body shaming men is OK?

Quote me.

Body shaming of women by both women and men is a form of bullying, and runs rampant in our society. I'm guessing you didn't know that.

I get it actually. Shorts on stage makes you sort of look like you'd rather be mowing the lawn.

I have one basic rule:
Dress above your audience, they're coming to see a show, not their Uncle Mel fart into a La-Z-Boy...
Sure you're going to sweat, ok, and?
I agree but I also have one basic rule- there is no amount of money enough for me to play an outdoor gig, unless I was a touring member of a major band like Def Leppard or similar. Indoor, ac, smoke free only.

I played a festival last weekend that actually specified a no shorts on stage policy in our contract. It ended up being the joke of the day backstage. I only noticed one rebel in shorts all day and he was everyone's hero.

Linen trousers are good. I must lose some weight and/or buy more. In the UK shorts are for playing soccer in, as it's only hot enough to warrant them three days of the year, and you will be at work in a no-shorts office for two of them.

When I'm the BL, there is no shorts. Don't take the gig if you can't go a whole evening without shorts and crocs.
If someone else is the band leader, they can call the shots.
It is totally reasonable, in days gone by, if you wouldn't wear a tuxedo, you didn't get the gig.
If you band looks like they rifled a dumpster for stage clothes- they deserve not to get the good gigs.

Not gonna lie, I follow a no-shorts policy on stage. Except for specific venues (eg; beach boardwalk festival, back yard bbq) I think shorts look sloppy. And not shorts in general, but the people that generally wear shorts on stage like to wear stuff that's sloppy-looking. Depends on situation I suppose. If you're playing biker bars with an older crowd then I guess your camo cargos and muscle tee fit right in. I'm in a top-40 cover band that plays for 20/30-somethings. Can't show up looking like I was just cleaning the garage.

I follow a strict "No Shorts" policy for the good of mankind.

There is a real possibility that my legs are so white that they could blind drivers and cause traffic accidents.

I wouldn't wear shorts as I have serious scarring on one leg, at various points, all the way up, and I don't think anyone much wants to see that. Plus even after 30 years the scars are susceptible to damage, so I prefer a layer of clothing for protection.

I've seen bands where the look has been the dumpster ethic. But I've never been in such a band. Sometimes when I was in a psychedelic rock band I probably turned up more street than the BL would have liked, although I kept it hippy-dippy most of the time.

Last band had prescribed sets of matching stagewear, which means no choice anxiety
