Noble Amps Preamp

So......
I've had some time with the noble now and gigged it once although that was in church and not my covers band.
First thought when I used it through phones was that it's more transparent than I thought it would be. It doesn't colour your tone per se.
I've done some A/B tests switching between my signal as is and through the noble. The Noble doesnt drastically change the tone but there is 'something' there. I also put a boost in front and got a quite nice OD sound.
I'm favouring using the bass cut switch and adding some bass back in to about 11 o'clock. The eq is more powerful than you think and set flat in the A/B test it was hard to here that anything had changed. Cutting and boosting the bass brought more of an edge to the sound.
I could see that with IEMs this would be a great tool and for travelling light. Hoping to use it next week with my covers band.
Conclusions so far
It's well built
It does add something but doesn't heavily couloir your instrument.
The power supply is a nice touch for powering the board.
Now I don't DI a huge amount or use in ears and my main amp at the moment is all valve but heavy so I don't need the valve sound. I will try it in front of my AER Amp One at some point to see if it valves it up.

is it your band or someone you are backing up?
It's a singer I'm backing up. He's been doing this tribute to french singer Joe Dassin for over 15 years.
Really starting to enjoy and get the noble now.
Sorry for the half answer but I just use a Kustom 500W amp and bypass the preamp via the effects return. Fantastic sounding amp for the price.
I've gone direct to my effects return on my Genzler, but with the eq flat I can't really tell the difference, so some of the other tonal palette choices (drive and scoops) on the amp make me just go into the instrument input on rock gigs. Most of the time I just go direct to FOH with no backline support. The soundguys LOVE the Noble
Most of the time I go into the effects return of whatever amp I'm using and it sounds great. Occasionally I go into the front end of the amp (especially if I'm providing backline for other acts) and it still sounds good.
Funny story about how much sound guys love the Noble. I recently played a gig supporting an international act and my band was supplying backline to the other support act, while the main act had their own gear. We did our soundcheck but didn't get a chance to run a song before we had to stop. After this the second support gave their console settings to the sound guy who loaded them into the desk which, unfortunately, erased all of our settings
When we went on to play the sound guy found that the signals we were sending him didn't really need any tweaking as everything sounded great. It's so nice to have a piece of gear that just works. Thanks, Jack!

If I'm not going straight DI, I either go into the input of my Mesa D800, or go into either a Carvin DCM1000L, or Crest Prolite 2.0

I am using a sfx microThumpinator before the Noble to filter out all the power sucking, and speaker confusing lower frequency information before it gets to the amp. At the Noble I am using the HPF 'On' and boosting the Bass a bit (9-10 o'clock) this is for tone. Even with the natural roll-off of frequencies in a cabinet, subsonic information will mess with speaker excursion, suck extra power and muddy up your sound. I mostly go direct, and we have major subs (8 x 15") and our techs like to push them. They love my signal, because they can boost me up in the subs, but aren't fighting it either. They comment on how clean and useful a signal I get to them. My mT is hidden under the pedalboard, so they don't even know about it
They pair up quite well and aren't redundant the way I use them.
Yeah it just sounded right to me.
I used the HPF in my bassbone and fishman so I guess I like having those frequencies rolled off.

I go per room. If I have a FOH guy that I know, and work with a lot then I do not. But if I am in a room that's boomy and I hate what I am hearing from FOH, than yes. It's a great way to combat subwoofers.

My most frequent setting is HPF engaged, bass at 2 o'clock and treble at 10 o'clock. Live and at home.
