Noble Amps Preamp

That’s pretty impressive  , I stalked TB, reverb and ebay as well as 2 local sale sites, for a few weeks, but came up with nothing.

Given that they go for about the same amount used as new (and if I bought from overseas I still had customs and VAT to deal with...) I just bit the bullet and ordered a new one. Jack was fantastic to deal with and I couldnt be happier with the preamp.

If you need it quickly I suppose the used market may grant you your wishes, but you better be quick when they show! Good luck:)
After a few weeks of checking the used market, I was just about to bite the bullet and order new when one popped up on Reverb.
I didn't hesitate and just went for it. The Noble is like a few other "unobtainium" items in the used market, in the somewhat rare occasion when they do appear, they usually sell within a few hours. Just saw it happen again in the TB classifieds last week .. took about 4 hours and it was sold.

Very happy with mine. Still exploring the best config for my live work needs, sounds great thru FOH. I have not done any tracks with mine yet, but I think I have a session coming up in a few weeks.

Question for those using them live only. Can you tell a noticeable difference over a regular good preamp or DI?
For me, it's not a "night and day" difference for live work in my limited experience so far (2 weeks and 5 gigs), but the Noble does add a very nice depth/presence .. something ... to my live sound. I'm using a Mesa WD800 that I really like the preamp on and I am currently running the Noble into the input of that amp, not just the FX Return or AUX In .. so I'm stacking the EQ's ... but I like what it does. FWIW, I am also running the Cali76CB (parallel mode) in front of the Noble .. into the WD800, and the Cali76 also adds something really nice to the signal chain.

If you read through the full Noble thread, you will recognize that one of the major values of the Noble is for players who do studio/tracking work, as well as live work .. and what they seem to get out of the Noble is consistency ... the tone they record with is what they get for live work .. particularly using IEMs. I rarely do IEM, just don't get called for many gigs that are running IEM, so I don't have that perspective.

If I was going to be brutally honest, while I like mine a lot, I would say that the Noble is a "nice to have" piece of gear for me as a primarily live work player.

Dude, spot on. I do equal parts tracking and live playing-- super consistent tone across the board.

I just got my 50 watt Alessandro head back from a (thankfully) failed attempt at selling it. This wonderfully rich and complex sounding little tube amp is the the last thing I’d think would significantly benefit from the Noble. I figured it might even be too much of a good thing. But since the Noble is the only DI I’ve got I used it a couple of days ago and like every other amp I’ve heard it in front of it sounded great. With HPF on and tone controls at noonish the low end clarity was greatly improved. Much more so than with the variable HPFs I’ve regularly used up until now.

And of course it beautifully captured the unique sound of the Ribbecke ABG out front. Started the second set with the amp volume down and it sounded so good I didn’t notice right away. Don’t recall that ever happening before...

Didn’t think it was possible to be sold any harder on the Noble but I am.

Here is my solution for mounting the Noble... I also use Velcro on the bottom of some rubber ‘feet' for use off the board. That way I can go either way easily.

Great solution. I often want to pull one pedal off the board for a gig, but don't want to dirty up the velcro, or have it slide around on a wooden stage.
I might steal this idea.

I'm really considering getting one for sure. My reddi is nice, if the 'volunteer' knows what they are doing back there, otherwise, (not the reddi's fault at all - it's absolutely fantastic at what it does) it's a losing battle for tone.

Currently I am going post eq di out on my DB751...and it's encompassing and a big footprint for the band...and easy for the sound tech. But I'd like to scale down if I could, to a lighter option that sounds high quality.

This has made my day lol. I will most definitely be going in the effects return.

The Genzler is very flat with tone controls in flat position. I use my Noble direct into the instrument input, and compared... no difference to my ears. However, through the front you also can use the drive, and other tone shaping abilities on the fly. Try it... you may like it!
