Was thinking about doing one anyways, since I have questions Here you go guys :

Yup.. it's a possible new product. The drive maker together with the omnicabsim is as powerful, or even more, than an axe fx. But i would have to prioritize the controls..pedals with 12 or more knobs are expensive to make, and attractive to just a few people..
Maybe you can suggest the minimum controls and features it should have..
That can be fun...

I thought a full preamp version may have simplified version of all the pedals combined,
I'll have a think about it and post my thoughts.
I realise it is currently a 1 man business so I appreciate the lack of time you would have to put into MORE fanboy\customer requests ;-)

You can relax a bit, we're not going anywhere! The only way my OCSD will leave my rig is if you make a new version with a quieter headphone out ;-)

The headphone amp is -70dB snr considering a 1v pp signal.

I don´t really know, but it was clearly higher.
This was due to the impossibility to control gain on the previous version. The power amp was always at max gain (noisy) and the volume controls the input level (so the higher the volume, the lower the SNR). On the new version i used a much more modern headphone amp, and i was able to control the gain for volume control (constant SNR).

The new one is a little noisy but not bad at all. It's become my go to headphone practice amp. Sounds great.

This has been briefly covered here, but looking for more input from folks who use the OCSD with their amp/cabs.

I run a relatively clean, but sometimes gritty, snarly tone with my jazz bass into a Mesa D-800 with Subway cabs (15 and 12). I'm not using tons of distortion or overdrive, but I almost always have some grit dialed in via a Saturn V, MDB-1, and/or Tone Hammer. I love the way it sounds most of the time, but when I jam/practice I only like to bring one of the two cabs. My complaint is that I sometimes sound a bit thin or nasally when I kick in some OD/distortion. Likewise, with my always on grit/magic boxes (Saturn V and PPB), I think things can sound a little thin/brittle through just my 1x12.

Anyway, I'm wondering if the OCSD is useful for tightening up or altering the sound of an amp/cab setup? Will this be useful for adding some punch/heft and impersonating different cab setups through my rig (within reasonable expectations)?

I like the fact that it's effectively an HPF/LPF, and if the headphone amp is decent it could replace my 3Leaf Enabler. I'm just wondering if it's worth it when I typically play through amps, versus it being way more valuable for folks who do tons of recording and ampless gigging?

I use mine exclusively with my live rig. Although I'm not a huge dirt/OD guy, I do have a VMT dlx and an Empress Multidrive on the board that I like to kick on for certain gigs/songs/sections. When I AB the overdriven sound with and without, its remarkable how much better my tone sounds with the OCS on. I like to run the cab size and resonance close to full up for lots of usable bottom. Without the OCS, those OD tones sound fizzy and nasal. With it, they sound huge and plump and just the way I would want them to sound.

Awesome. Do you feel like it adds something desirable even when you aren't using OD/distortion? Or is it something you would turn off when you aren't using any dist/OD pedals?

I use it all the time, OD or not. My main goal was to give some more "voicing" to what otherwise is a pretty hi-fi rig. I wouldnt use it for certain kinds of gigs (some types of jazz, world, new age etc) but even on those gigs I tend to kick it on to fatten up and push the mids forward for soloing.

Its basically the bomb, and gives me an adjustable pocket for my wide and deep transparent rig.

And even though it has an HPF, like most HPF's it allows you to kill the boom and push usable lows, resulting in a fatter sound. Not necessarily deeper, but more usable and "bigger".
