NPD DSM Noisemaker OmniCabSim

Quick question: My monitor sends are mono with the groups I use IEM's with. Sooooo.....Will the OSCD v3 automatically make a stereo signal mono? And have the mono signal in both ears? IOW, if I plug a mono signal into the Aux In, will I get a "summed" signal in both ears? Does that make sense?

I don't own one (yet) so take this for what it's worth. But if the Aux in is stereo, seems to me like if you plug a mono signal into it, you're only going to get sound out of one side of your headphones. You'd need to get a stereo to dual mono 1/8" adapter from Radio Shack. that's similar to what I did with my headphone amp. It's 2 channels in stereo. I plug the bass into one input, and then I have a stereo to dual mono adapter for the headphone output so I'm hearing the same thing out of both sides. But I have to make sure I plug the bass into the right channel. If I plug it into the other channel, nothing comes out of the headphones, because the stereo end of the adapter only picks up one side of the signal, if that makes sense. Consult your friendly local Radio Shack.

*This could all be wrong and have nothing to do with the real-world features of the OCSD. In which case, feel free to disregard.

Unless what you're feeding it is a dual mono aux send to the input, then you should hear the same thing coming out of both sides without any adapter. In the immortal words of LeVar Burton of Reading Rainbow, "But don't take my word for it."

Each side of the aux goes directly into each side of the amplifier. So, using a mono conector will ground one side. Use a stereo dual mono jack.

Thanks! I will get one of those.

I *think* that the monitor sends I get are already dual mono. So this may be a non issue.

I’m REALLY digging the OCSD! It’s crystal clear and even small adjustments make a difference. If I can get the Aux In/Out to function as my headphone amp it’ll be hard to let this go.

Quick update on using the OCSD as my IEM headphone amp. It works great, BUT I found it easier to get a good mix from the Monitor Send rather than trying to blend the bass' signal from the OCSD and the Monitor Send.

It's a great sounding headphone amp, though. It's not the quality of the signal but just the convenience. I get my tone pre EQ in my Monitor Send so it's the same as what's coming out of the OCSD's DI.

Yeah, no sh@t! Like I need another hole in my head.
And it’s not like I don’t have a couple of drives that already do the trick. But....You know.....
Right. But they all do slightly different tricks, right? At least that's what I keep trying to tell my wife . . . as I yell it upstairs . . . because I'm sleeping on the couch downstairs . . . . because I just bought another pedal.

Drive pedals are addictive.. i made a lot of clones, and different styles and colors..but was never 100% satisfied. There was always something missing. Or it was perfect one day, and the next day was "meh". Thats why i i designed the DM with the same spirit of the omni. So i could tweak the feel of it to that day specific mood.

Soooooo...It'll do light OD/add-a-little-grit? Maybe even a few different flavors??

@Dsmnoisemaker, does the headphone out of the OCSD deliver the same tone that is coming out of the DI? In other words, if I use the headphone amp to dial in a tone that I like, can I assume that the DI output will give me the same results?

The signal from the output goes to the headphone and the DI. Is the same signal.
If the headphone and PA are reasonably flat response, it will sound identical ( loudness can change tone perception, though)
