NPD DSM Noisemaker OmniCabSim

My question is, why don’t more bassists use cab sims? I’m sure many bassists use drive/distortion to FOH...do they realise how nasty overdrive sounds direct to PA?? What am I missing here; Omnicabsim should be on every pedalboard...

Indeed!

I have the OmniCabSim, and also a Mooer Radar and a Nux Solid Studio (IR-based cab simulators)... they are very useful and I'm happy with alll 3 for different reasons. For recording, I'd favour the Mooer or Nux probably because they're handy to integrate with the PC, using the software editor etc... But the OmniCabSim is not going anywhere! Mine is permanently on my pedalboard. I use three different overdrives, and the OmniCabSim is super easy to tweak live if I need to and makes my overdriven bass sound like a great overdriven bass, instead of like an angry swarm of bees in a can like it used to sound before I found it.

I would love the mini version, but it is getting ridiculous having already 3 boxes that can do the job... The 'gain' control sounds like something I would love to have on my OmniCabSim... uffff... want!!! :D

Hey, guys . Read this entire thread and just received my OCSD .

Noticed in general it "tightens" up the sound, but that I lose some "openness" (it's hard to describe sounds) .

One problem I'm having is that no matter what setting I use, higher notes (essentially anything on the G string) sounds VERY trebly, almost sibilant when I'm using a pick. I have to turn it off.

Is what I've described normal?

Check this excellent thread :
DSM Noisemaker OmniCabSim Deluxe : knobs and frequency response
You'll notice a small boost in the 3-6k if you want to extend the high frequencies. Didn't worked well with my setup (Zon Sonus which has a lot of presence there, too much of a good thing for my taste) so I sold the pedal. Otherwise, this pedal was perfect, totally understand all he satisfied users of this pedal.

That's weird, sounds like its clipping or its clipping the device after it.
