Well…USPS said the 30th. But it showed up on my rainy doorstep late this morning. Can't wait to give it a workout first opportunity.



And it's got top jacks too!!!! Freekin' top jacks!

I like this. The jacks are IMO too close together on my FG v2 and Boosted Fuzz, makes it a bit of a pain to plug everything in on my board. Then again, when isn't pedal Tetris a huge pain in the ass?

Does kinda make the case for a small and carefully curated assemblage like mine - even though I do miss out on some of the fun stuff.

I really like getting feedback like this. It's a tough balancing act though! Half of guys want a comfy setup the other half want it as tight as you can make it. The 125b is a nice box to work with.

Did you see that Peter at VFE got some fancy medium-height 1590b's made up for his last Kickstarter campaign? Apparently it's right between the regular B and the tall version.

Don't get me wrong, I love that everything is damn secure with the jacks so close, but I feel lucky that I use the smallest cables I can (EBS flat). And hell, the sound is what matters most and they sound excellent.

I actually still plan on rehousing my v1 Fifth Gear because it's such a small target when things get happening on stage.

Hammond just sent us some comp boxes and they released a 1590B2 which is right in between. Pretty nice!

The jacks should work with any type of patch cables. We've tested them with pancake jacks with no issue, though it is tight.

I brought the Ictineo to my band practice tonight and plugged it in at the end of my pedalboard going straight into my Aguilar TH500 Effects Return. It easily drove the power amp to the volumes we needed, and sounded super clear and punchy with my Jazz bass. It really sounded fantastic. I ended up close to the "SVT" settings, but with both the Tone and Body knobs turned a bit closer to 12:00 from their respective settings. And I was running it with the Boost on. Volume on the pedal was at 9:00-10:00ish driving the power amp to decent rehearsal volumes . Sounded great.

Yeah exactly. I've never had a problem per se with how the Aggie sounds, but this was a whole different ball game in terms of sound. I've never been able to get that kind of punch and clarity out of that amp.

I should add that I didn't A/B it against plugging it into the main input of the amp. I just set it up that way at the start of the night and had no reason to change it.

Also, I usually play a P with flats in this band, so some of the "clarity" I was getting may be the Jazz/rounds as well.

As I said earlier, at home with headphones it was a little much, but in a live setting it sounded great.

EDIT: I'm referring to the UltraBass. I realize now you're probably referring to the Boost switch (not sub boost, as in boosting sub frequencies).

For some reason it scurred me off a bit because of the volume difference. Upon revisiting and getting back to unity, it's such a pleasing sound. We're doing some stripped down/acoustic stuff that the tone is just perfect for. Big, warm, absolutely lovely.
