Obscure 70s Rock Bands

Charlie actually had a namesake drummer for Steve Gadd. Must be a first in the industry. While different Steve Smiths may be drumming in many bands, the combination of Steve and Gadd is more unusual. Together with the occupation "drummer".

Happy the Man I recall very well! Had one of their albums not this one though. AFAIK I've seen the name on bills for ProgFest or something, are they still around?

One of my friends visited Texas quite often back then. He came back with a vinyl of a regional band from there, even more "famous" than Electromagnets, I think their name was HEYOKA, they were prog rock too...but I can't find anything of them on YT or elsewhere. Anyone remembers them? In the same vein as Too Smooth already mentioned earlier.

Obscure to some...........

Arrhemm...cough cough. And their lead singer Brian Johnson later went on to sing with...who? fellow scots actually...(nerdy nonsense trivia). I thought Geordie was great though, and actually saw Thin Lizzy open for them once. Yes, not the other way around.

It's turning out too unwieldy and hard to read here in the end. Some repeats and rehashes of alredy posted material. Nice with all YT flicks though. That people even bother to rip a whole vinyl albums of obscure bands that hasn't released anything on CD to let it rip faster... people have way too much time on their hands. Must be retired, I reckon.

Are these the same ones as the swedish rockerrs Hooffoot ? Nah. for starters, those are active today, and formed in the 10s. Check them out though, they play 70s underground rock, with instruments to match.

Hookfoot was the record labels hired guns for backing whatever artist was popular at the time. Really incredible players (Clapton has said that the guitarist was the best in the world).

Beggars opera! Yes! I remember I lumped Lucifers Friend, Pavlovs Dog, Beggars Opera into one and the same bag. Don't know why though.
If I recall correctly Cafe Jaqcues where produced by Phil Collins. At that time a shift in Phil Collins musical tastes brought Genesis and his solo carreer to include simpler elements more and more. Arty poppy/funky stuff. I do have cassettes of Café Jacques though. Nice production, and good songs, but a little too much medium tempo and slow ballads for my taste. I wouldn't call them "rock" though. And their music was anything but obscure. Almost "west coast" or "yacht soul" in lack of better terms.

There's a saying when discussing anything obscure. Like,

- have you heard xxxxxxx [insert any obscure band here]
- No.
- That's a band that only God and one more knows about and have heard, but I've forgotten who that is...
