Whoo-hoo! 3 Allstars from Nashville!

Suter, Weber, and Smith will all get to play in the game or take part in the rookie skills competition. I'm super excited.

For what it's worth, I'm shocked Scottie Hartnell missed it too, but I'm excited to see former Pred and Philly teammate of his in Kimmo Timonen make it.

Also, the Suter talk is heating up, only it looks like Philly is coming knocking, and they are talking high picks and a combo of young, talented forwards. (Players and a 1st and third or players and a pair of seconds expensive). I'm hoping we can keep him. Alternatively, if we trade him, and could trade for a guy like Gleason, I'd be okay with it.

The funny thing was in that play Ference got to sit in the box & Montreal got a power play goal (their only one) and Subban didn't get a penalty??? :eyebrow:

Should be "interesting" Sat when Boston plays Carolina - hopefully Claude can keep his composure this time.

Subban got a elbowing minor - you can see Ference in the box telling him it was high.

The problem was that Ference got a double minor which meant that the net result was that the Canadians ended up with a conventional power play and both guys came out of the box after the goal was scored.

In essence, the Canadians were given an advantage for taking a dangerous, cheap shot at our first line center. The reason they got the advantage is that Subban turtled. The league has to get rid of that. I thinking Subban is going to sit for 3 games although I'd like to see longer. It was so obvious on replay, that I'm wondering if the league is going to expand video review so the refs (who can be overwhelmed in real time) don't unintentionally give the team that committed the worst act an advantage. A better outcome would have been 2 for roughing for Ference and a 5 or 10 minute major on Subban for the high elbow. The teams would be 4v4 for awhile then the Bruins get a power play.

Honestly, neither would I, but what Subban pulled is a pretty common tactic against team like the Bruins that are willing to stand up for each other. As is, cynical teams will continue to take their chances with cheap dangerous shots at star players knowing that if they turtle they end up with a power play advantage - I think that is a result that is worse than any delay caused by replay. In the case of this play, it was pretty obvious with one replay to see what happened - I am thinking that the refs on ice should be able to consult with a video ref before handing out penalties so that the punishment is handed out fairly in cases like this.

To their credit, the refs called the game pretty tight on the Habs afterward so that the Habs weren't able to steal a point or two because of the Subban hit.

Um, how did Lidstrom NOT get on the roster??? I'm not a Wings fan by any means, but has this guy just had so many stellar seasons that they've now banned him? How has this happened? I didn't realize it until the late news last night and the news anchors around Detroit were spewing their hatred for the selections.

what do we think of the proposed Leafs-Red Wings winter classic at the Big House next year?

Judging by the past few Toronto-Detroit meetings, the past rivalry from when they were both in the same Conference, and the sheer size Michigan stadium... this could be the BIGGEST and BEST winter classic to date.

Kind of lame article over at Yahoo about Crosby and fans complaining about him not coming back from concussions soon enough to appease them, but funny photo at the end of it where Penguins on the ice this morning all have a makeshift C on their sweaters after rumors got out about them holding meeting that someone should have the C.

Agreed and there are some great college hockey matchups that could occur there as well.


Please note - It is actually the U. of Michigan stadium, Michigan State is a different school and you don't want to upset alumni of either institution; they each take great pride in their schools (as they should) and are fierce rivals.

A few of the guys I know in Pittsburgh have been talking like that too. It's a bummer to hear fans get that way, but they have a right to say what they think, especially those paying to go to the games.

I really don't think about it anymore. Tonight the Pens play Florida in Miami, and I'm focusing on the guys who are playing. Hopefully Orpik can inspire his linemates to tighten up the D while Neal and Malkin stay hot.

I'm looking forward to the Leafs at Sabres tonight. We have a good chance of going 5-0 and taking this home-home series. You know Buffalo is gonna come hard tonight, no one wants to lose a series like this, especially at home.

Considering we play the NY Rangers tommorow, I wouldn't be surprised if Reimer started tonight to allow Gustavsson to be nice and fresh tommorow.

Wilson has stated that he has no problem letting a hot goalie play in back to back games.

Raise your hand if you're sorry to hear Carcillo is out the rest of the season after having knee surgery.

Cool to see Brouwer get his first NHL hat trick as the Caps hold off Tampa Bay. Exciting right down to the end with that last second Stamkos shot off the post. Hopefully the Pens hang on the last five minutes here and beat Florida to stay on the Caps heels.
