Official 2011-2012 NHL Regular Season Thread; Puck Drop

YES! Neal punches one in to seal the game. Great game for 60 minutes and a needed victory over someone ahead of them in the standings. On next to Tampa. Hopefully we can beat them like the Caps just did.

Oh....I saw that Zetterberg shootout goal. Amazing.

Wings beat the Hawks in OT for 14 in a row at home. This is something they have never done even with the dominating teams at the turn of the millennium.

As far as Lidstrom in the All-Star game, that's just stupidity. Lidstrom has been in the league 21 years, the Wings are about to go to the playoffs for the 21st straight season. No other player in the modern history of the league can claim that.

Oh darn. Rumors were Philly was offering him around on trade deals. Not now, which is probably good as Philly needs to hold on to him.

I wonder how many guys are skating around with concussion symptoms but not willing to admit it.

It looks like the Winter Classic is set for Det-Tor at the Big House (100,000 plus) and it looks like they are going to try to coordinate with the Great Lakes invitational (one of the best collage Hockey tournaments) at Commerica Park for the same weekend. Great idea.

Another day, another win. This makes 4 in a row for us and marks our second win above a high standings EC team in a row. We've really come together as a team since Weber's return, and I hope we can continue to gel as the pieces fall into and out of place headed into the trade deadline.

Malkin turns in a great game, as does Neal. Two in a row for the Pens, with a sweep of Florida.

At this point, I'm not looking for anything to complain about. I'll be happy with a win, especially against the pesky Lightning.

The shootout goal from Weiss was great. I saw parts of the Boston game, but mostly paid attention to Dallas at St. Louis. Great game from Halak in the 1-0 shutout. Now the Blues are tied for the most points in the NHL.

Good Bruins shootout win, Tuukka looked pretty good. After watching Florida, I must say that # 18, Mathias is a beast. The team just looks bigger than the Bruins; except for Chara of course.

The end of that third period got pretty intense. I had this huge crap I was holding in...then OT...then a shootout. It was almost more than I could handle. incase you were wondering.

and look at that, its snowing.

Agreed about Tuuka - I thought he probably deserved the #1 star with the stops on 3 out of 4 breakaways during the game and 3 of 4 in the shootout even with Bergeron's two goals and shootout goal.

Florida's second goal was kinda fluky off of Seidenberg's stick but I do agree with Brick and Jack, it was the result of a good play by Florida to shoot and create traffic in front.

Claude nailed it when he said the team's battle has improved but they are still not sharp.

It is obvious that the team misses Marchand and I hope Marchand sees the same thing and will not do anything stupid to get himself suspended once he comes back.

Another step backwards as Crosby resumes sessions with a doctor who helped him get back to his initial return to the ice. At this point, the Pens should rule him out for the remainder of this season. That will stop the talk and questions of when he'll be back for a few months. Let the guy focus on getting his brain healthy.

What happened in Detroit last night? Datsyuk went off, and surpassed 700 career points. Miller gets yanked for Enroth, but Miller has been subpar this season. Maybe the collision with Lucic messed him up. The Pens chased Miller earlier this year, then chased Enroth, bringing Miller back, who got chased again. I still remember that game in Pittsburgh. Fleury got win 200 that night.
