Not clicking this either. Like Ovi as a player, but definitely don't need to see/hear him rap.
In other Caps news, Mike Green is going to undergo surgery for a sports hernia and other related issues, which will keep him out 4-6 more weeks (and inevitably, several more after that). He's a huge part of the Caps, but I swear he's made out of cellophane...
Wow, great goalie showdown tonight in Pittsburgh. Cam Ward was getting peppered all night, and made save after save. Fleury made some great saves as well, but darn Ward was on fire. I'm happy the Pens won, but sad to see Ward take that loss.
It sure feels good to see James Neal coming around to the player they traded for. Malkin scored on a wicked wrister. This was a great hockey game for me, a 2-1 SO finish with great defense on both ends.
Time to catch the end of the Bruins on NESN. Last I checked, they were down by one.

Bryz and the rest of the team do a number on the Wild tonight. 5-1 win at home after a long road trip!
Got a call at 5 pm tonight from a colleague with an extra ticket to tonight's Flyers game. They ended up being great seats: row 22, right on the red line. And the Flyers played a really solid team game tonight. You know at it has been a good team effort when, at the end of the game, any one of about 18 different guys could be one of the three stars.
Right on. That sounds like a nice surprise. I bet that was a fun game. I haven't seen highlights yet.

I would rather see the Flyers hang on to JVR.
I don't think Luke Schenn is the D-man the Flyers need.
JVR is a clutch player,....he may be slumping at the moment,...but provided that he has time to recover and get some games under his belt,...I'm willing to bet that he'll start putting pucks in the net down the stretch and into the playoffs.
I've also heard murmurings of the Flyers trying to get Ryan Suter from the Preds. I might be willing to give up JVR for that guy.
Gustavson has made his way back to the blueline. Yeah he's another rookie but he strikes me as being a Kimmo Timonen type defender. Moves the puck well,...sees the ice well,...can move when he needs to. I've been getting a little frustrated with MAB (Bourdon). Too many ugly turnovers in dangerous areas.
The D played well tonight but in all honesty the Wild are 29th in the league in offense. I'll have a little more confidence in them when the can play that well against offensively better teams.
Mark me down as being in the I have faith and am optimistic about Bryzgalov. Really IMO the young D and the loss of defensive forwards like Richards and Powe are what's burning the Flyers in the GA. Yes Bryz needs to make clutch saves,...but with all the deflections and bad bounces,...how can you really fault the guy.
If the D is going to be successful,...they need a 2nd coming of Pronger and at this point the only Defencemen in the league that could fill his shoes are Chara or Weber,...and I don't think they are going anywhere.

Me? I'd give JVR up for Schenn, rather have Suter or Weber, but Shcenn is about all you're going to get. JVR's really only shown the spark in last year's playoffs. That's it. And with the glut of rookies playing so well right now, he's become very expendable.
Gustavson is awfully smooth with the puck. He's going to be another Timonen real soon. He's just got that cool head and makes smart decisions out there, he won't be rushed. Pairing him up with Kimo is just going to speed his development.
Bryzgalov played a quiet game last night. Nothing flashy and I was really surprised at the number of saves he piled up by games end. 25 on 26 shots!
I think what needs fixed on the back end is communication, nothing more. Too often I see mis-plays between goaltending and defense and that's more communication than either player. Someone has to direct traffic back there and prehaps that mostly should fall on Bryzgalov. He should be directing the defense.
Awesome shorthanded work by Read and Couturier. Minnesota blew it on that one while Couturier almost did, shanking the puck into the wide open net. (He would have had time to take a second shot he was so open)
Refs called a nice game too, letting the players play in a few spots where others would have sent players to the box.
Good point on the communication. Although I have to say that this Flyers team is more talkative on the ice than the Flyers teams of the past few seasons. I think it's mainly amongst the forwards though. I can always hear Simmonds communicating with his linemates.
Pens and Rangers on Thursday, I'm nervous already. Letang has been cleared to play finally, but I doubt he'll play which is a bummer.
I was hoping the Predators would rough up the Rangers last night, but it was quite the opposite. The Nashville goalie looked good for stretches, but the Rangers wouldn't let up on him from what I saw. I wanted to watch more, but I was caught up with the Pens then Bruins. Good to see Nashville on national TV though.

Sorry, I will forever hate the Pens and not happy right now with the Rangers. Still brewing over the Winter Classic. Lol.
Another trade deadline approaches, so time for me to hope Shero can pull off a deal to land Timonen from Philly.
