Official 2011-2012 NHL Regular Season Thread; Second Period

First intermission, and the Flyers are down 4-0 to the Rangers. This. Sucks.

Depending how the rest of this game goes I am wondering how long Laviolette will keep Bryz in for.

I'm still somewhat scratching my head about those penalty calls after the Anisimov goal. I'll take the high sticking call because it was after the goal, but the hooking I am not sure on.

Rangers Flyers turned into one of the weirder games I've seen as of late, even down to the last second, which never really happened.

Flyers came back strong and were dominating for a good 20 minutes or so, but the Rangers D and Lundqvist held strong. The refs were trying to keep order so they would call penalties for indiscretions and scrums, but when actual penalties would occur they'd get overlooked. Sheesh.

Then with the last 2.7something seconds left, the Refs kept trying to check the time and eventually just called the game.

Post-Game Notes just said that of the 6 games they played against each other this season, there were 22 fighting majors - averaging over 3 a game.

But with that win, Rangers clinch the Eastern Conference and regain #1 in the NHL. I'll be watching the Vancouver/Anaheim game closely tonight (if I can stay up, that is).

Obvious the Flyers want the Pens in the first round based on that rollover performance tonight.

Feisty game in Boston. Seems like the Bruins are trying to get in the Pens head. So far, not working. Ference got told by Neal. Haha.

only after neal backed down twice then finally decided to go with someone smaller than him. was a fun game to watch for the most part. for a meaningless game, I was entertained. Letang does deserve an oscar.

I normally enjoy Bruins Overtime Live, but when Dale and Gord lead in whining about Letang and then how the game is meaningless, I had to turn it off. Shame....usually a good postgame show.

I'm trying to read your post but all I can hear in my head is waaaaah!

ummm....I'm sorry you don't know how to read. :)

sweet mother of god I hate those two, win or lose, if either of them are on, I turn it off. I don't think I've watched a single intermission this year because Arnold is always on. But him and Kluzack together? eff that.

Really hope Boychuck is ok, looked pretty painful.
seriously though, how does Seguin get the 7th man award and not Kelly? lame, if anyone exceeded expectations this year it was easily Kelly.

I like the interviews and how they break down the highlights.

Interesting how they gloss right over the Paille hit, but rail on Letang. Then go right back to how meaningless the game was. Seems like the Bruins were playing with meaning, they just failed tonight. Yes, I turned it back on after all. I was hoping to get an update on Boychuck.

What does it matter about Neal supposedly backing down two other times? He still whooped on Ference.

Remember, Kluzac and Arnold are idiots. Neal chose to fight ference because he was the taller one that time. easy to say yes when you're the bigger guy. that is all. And I credit for ference still going in hard. The B's were certainly playing with meaning, hence me being entertained. I have no problem with them losing as long as long as they play it hard, which they did.
We probably won't hear about Boychuck until tomorrow, but it didn't look good. I hope this doesn't mean we'll have to see Corvo in the playoffs.

Seguin leads the team in scoring and third in the league in +/-. Most goals on the team too. That idiot Dale agrees with you about Kelly being the 7th man, but Gord does not. He likes Seguin for the award too.

Bah! My prediction is whoever wins the 4-5 matchups, wins the Cup this year (Flyers!) Yeah, I'm bold and I'm proud of it!

I stand by my prediction that Rangers fold due to Lundqvist unable to keep playing at his current level. The guy is worn out. He won't hold up in a long series. Buffalo or Washington will come out of that one.

Well, the Rangers MIGHT fold. I certainly hope so. But Lundqvist sure didn't look "worn out" tonight. Even if the Flyers squeak by the first round (which would be no easy task!), they'd still have to hope somebody else knocks off the Rangers. They should be ashamed - 0-6 vs. the Rangers. 0 for friggin' 6!!! That's pathetic.

I was afraid that the layoff would affect Bryzgalov's confident streak he had going. He didn't look at all like he did in March. Lundqvist, on the other hand, was lights out (as he usually is against the Flyers). (Sigh...)

Got to go to the game tonight with a my little brother, my friend, and both of our better halves. Such a good game, both teams really fought for the win. Lindback stood strong all game and didn't let up even in the shootout and Radz chipped in the game winner.

Neal chose to fight Ference? Ference had his gloves off and up in Neal's face before Neal even knew a fight had started. I don't think he CHOSE to fight anyone.

Cool deal jp. How is the fan experience in the arena? Are the fans knowledgable about the game? When I go to Coyote games, I feel like I'm at some other event with a hockey game in the background.

Bryzgalov didn't look bad last night, the defense did in front of him. Here's hoping Grossmann gets back FAST!!! Ilya was left hung out to dry too many times.

Some of those calls by the refs last night... ***??? Even calling the game with 2.7 seconds left? I'm not saying the calls were one way either, that was atrocious last night.

Yeah, Grossmann's absence really hurts. And Pavel Kubina?! I thought he played a horrible game. I haven't been very impressed with him at all. I don't know HOW many times over the last few games he's had chances to clear the puck from danger and has failed to do so.

IF we can get through the first round, we should get Meszaros back. A healthy Meszaros and Grossmann would help out immensely. And don't look now, but the Devils are sneaking up. If they were to get past us, the Flyers would drop to the 6 spot and play the 3-seed instead of Pittsburgh in the first round.

Hey Philly guys...what's the latest on Pronger? You guys follow your team closer than I do.

The NHLN guys were commenting on the PHI/PIT game the other day and a spot where the camera panned to Pronger and his family. They said something along the lines of "there's a guy who probably won't play another game in the NHL, but it doesn't look like he minds".
