OFFICIAL ASHDOWN CLUB

Well here is my submission to the forum... It's not a big submission but I had to figure a way the wife would allow an amp in the home office and this little guy fit the bill. Not bad for a 15 watt practice amp! Ashdown JNR, I think the pic that uploaded is bigger than the amp he he.

Finally got the Klystron rig set up and tested properly in our rehearsal studio today.

It's sounding great, but I've got an issue with the compressor circuit: When I engage it, the volume drops *significantly* (from gig volume to bedroom volume), even if I dime the output knob and turn the compressor knob all the way down.

Is this an issue with these amps? If I can't use the compressor, that's not a huge deal, but it does appear to be some kind of fault.

Pic for attention and internet points:

Hi,
What is your input level set at? You may need to bump it up to compensate?
Hope this helps,
Brent

The RM800 sounds good for me for rock and the controls “flat” and the Shape button in sounds excellent
The Shape button makes an EQ smiley face setting.
I play with a pick and it sounds punchy and defined. Using the Shape feature I also make fine adjustments with the main EQ so I can either add more mids if I play finger style as example etc
The drive is very good if used sparingly
Plenty of headroom too as 800W @ 4ohms

It's true that the heart of the Ashdown amp is rock, but I don't think it's only for that. I have worked as a hired gun for some artists, playing rock, acoustic pop, pop, indie, punk and funk, and my RM500 has always been there. Different soundguys and many people compliment me about my tone (DI from the head). The old ABMs were kinda more dark and bassy maybe (I loved my EBM EVO II) but I think that the RM series are a really valid amp for most genres.

Cool rig anyway. I really want one of those ABM Neo cabs

The Neo cabs are great, very light and easy to lift with single top handle.

Slightly annoying is the amp feet just if careful sit without falling into the handle well !!
I use a small black rubber mat on the top of my cabs ( approx 12” square ) and this removes this issue and helps the amp slipping off the cab too !

Nice cabs and do the job, I will add a second cab for larger venues in time

Hey,

Awesome thread! Any experiences with the Ashdown RM610-T EVO Cabinet?
I own a Ampeg 810e cab, but it misses wheels, and is stored in a practice space with really tight long stairs.
So I am looking for a solution to have one I can bring to gigs.
I also know its sealed.

I will pair it with a Ampeg PF-800 head. Just wondering if its worth it? Im looking at a price of 599 dollars.

PS. Its brand new.

They are really nice cabs. I know a couple of people who gig with them and they are pretty happy. I own a RM112 and it sounds good. For the price they are really good

If weight is a factor and $ is not as much of one, I would suggest 2 410 RM EVO cabs. They are 45 lbs each and the 610 is 112lbs (some places list it at 124lbs). I use them and a pair of 210 RM EVOs. They sound fantastic.
