OFFICIAL ASHDOWN CLUB

Ashdown has awesome customer service and communication. I emailed them about shipping on one of the amazing amps in their "last chance" section on their site (go check it out!). Mark Gooday himself emailed me back, invited their lead tech in on the convo and I have come away mucho impressed! We were discussing the beautiful BTA400 they have in stock.

Mark has answered question for me too. Super nice guy.

I'm looking to upgrade my amp head and add a cab in the near future, and am considering the Ashdown Rootmaster RM-800 EVO II in addition to a couple of others. They appear to be shipping next month sometime. Any word on these? I've seen some good feedback on Ashdown gear, but I have zero experience with any of it myself.

That is a sweet looking amp. Since they are new no one is going to have any hands on experience with them. With that being said, however, the original RM800 had many issues while both of the RM500 heads have been pretty dependable, great sounding and loud.

I would imagine that Ashdown has worked out all of the issues on the original RM800 with this new head. I like the black front face, not sure on the gray case yet. Would be nice to see a picture from the top of it.

In mulling things over, I've reconsidered my choices and am giving some weight to the Ashdown RM500 EVO II. The RM800 EVO II looks very cool, but is way more than I'll need for my space. I'm thinking the RM500 EVO II will be a better fit. I could add a Rumble 210 to the 115 and be off to the races. From what I've read, the RM500 II seems to be pretty solidly made & reliable.

Don't let me scare you from the RM800 EVO II as the problems have probably been worked out and it just may be a great amp. But yes the RM500's have been work horses and mine has treated me very well.

May I join this wee club of Ashdown-ers?

This is my Ashdown Build-a-Rig, complete with two GK 400RB-IV’s (one not pictured) and a very confused MAG-600 (not sure how I feel about it)!

I welcome any thoughts regarding a comparison between an ABM 600 and a GK.

Hi all, Say, I can't find any solid info on the original Ashdown 900 EVO. (no numerals after that title) Why is there so many models after that one? Are they good. What are they worth? --Thanks in advance!

I have an EVO II and i love it. It's such overkill though. Headroom for years. As for why there are many variations, including the original, Mark is ALWAYS tinkering with new features, etc

I've had an RM800 for years and never had a single issue. Always loved the sound and the features and it can blow the doors off any club you bring it to.

I own a couple of these. Best to isolate using the “line out” jack in the backside. If you don’t get correct output into a separate power amp, then try retubing. If you do get a line-level out, then onto the power amp section. There’s a bunch of us here that have ABM’s, others with more technical know-how than I.

Good luck!
