I emailed Hipshot about this exact thing and Bill told me that none of them are a straight swap out/swap in. It takes a little work and drilling some new holes. I decided it wasn't worth it in the end.
I'm already thinking about turning my 305 into an ATK/P-bass hybrid, either with a switch to select the passive "P side", or maybe active on both, with a blend pot.
An ash-bodied 5-string kind-of-P-bass with a maple fingerboard sounds like a cool thing to have around the house, plus it just seems like an interesting project. I have a few pickup ideas already, and I'm looking for input on this, so I started a thread over in the pickups forum:

That sounds awesome man, I fully support it! I've always liked the idea of a pickup near the neck but I cant wrap my head around it. I would fiddle too many knobs. I am best left with minimal things to screw up![]()
That's actually part of my thinking. If it get myself in a jam goofing around with the onboard EQ, flip a switch, and bam! I'm back doing my best Duck Dunn imitation...
I've been thinking about doing this for a while, myself. I can never decide on what feels like the "best" approach. Oh well, no rush.
I own a 3EX1, 300, 305, 400, and the USA (Prestige model)...
