Woo Hoo! Another club to join.

haha now we know who to come to if we need a spare ATK ;)

nice little collection there. hope you get good playing out of them as I have.

Hey guys,I just had a little chat with the boss, Justin. This little club he started has almost 150 members so I thought it was time to compose and post a master list or roster if you will of our little army here. We came across a couple issues to address so going forward here's a new thing we're gonna do:

If you "turn in" your number, that number will be freed up for the next request and that prior member will be listed as Illumni. Just a neat little thing we wanna do for people that joined, but found that the ATK maybe wasn't for them. We can always hope they come back, right? If they do, they'll get a new number.

In the meantime, I'll just keep forking out numbers as needed. If I miss anyone/anything just shoot me a pm. Thanks!

I'm already thinking about turning my 305 into an ATK/P-bass hybrid, either with a switch to select the passive "P side", or maybe active on both, with a blend pot.

An ash-bodied 5-string kind-of-P-bass with a maple fingerboard sounds like a cool thing to have around the house, plus it just seems like an interesting project. I have a few pickup ideas already, and I'm looking for input on this, so I started a thread over in the pickups forum:

That sounds awesome man, I fully support it! I've always liked the idea of a pickup near the neck but I cant wrap my head around it. I would fiddle too many knobs. I am best left with minimal things to screw up ;)

That's actually part of my thinking. If it get myself in a jam goofing around with the onboard EQ, flip a switch, and bam! I'm back doing my best Duck Dunn imitation...

NBD ... It got here today! Not the best pics but the best I could do tonight. Will take better ones in the sun tomorrow. Yes, it does still have the plastic covering the pickups in these pictures. That came off about 2 seconds after I turned off the camera. I'd like to request ATK Club member #300 to match my 300.

I've been thinking about doing this for a while, myself. I can never decide on what feels like the "best" approach. Oh well, no rush.

just for kicks, i laid a p bass picguard on top of my ATK, to get a more precise idea of where a P would go.
Well the front coil of the atk pup is exactly where the rear coil for a p pup would go under the D and G string. And the front p coil(under the E and A) would go where the front of the ATK bridge is. That's why it can get a decent p sound, but not the whole enchalata.
I now think adding a split p would be futile if the desired result is an option for sounding like a passive p. However, there is the single coil P that could be considered, but I don't have measurements. If you could add a custom stacked Seymore Duncan single P in the correct location, with the option of running active or passive, the result could be interesting.

I own a 3EX1, 300, 305, 400, and the USA (Prestige model), and they rival all of my more expensive instruments. My Warwick Streamer (Stage II) Cost me about 5 times as much as my 400, but I find myself going back to the 400 more often (unless I need that extra growl).

I don't know much about quality control, and some of the build logistics, but I know enough to know that the ATK appeal is derived from straight quality and playability. I think that what Gibson and Fender does is atrocious, and the ATK's following is far beyond fanboyisms. I highly praise Ibanez for building something so nice, and so affordable. You REALLY are getting more than what you pay for.

And if you get a bad one, it's not testament to Ibanez faulty, I assure you. I am fully convinced they have something for everyone, whether it be Korean, Japanese, or of Indonesian build. I will say though, that the prestige models built in Japan are amazing. I just got the GWB1005 and the quality and sound is beyond description. You do see the attention to detail in the Japanese models, but I still say the cheaper factory models can easily hold their weight.
