Does anybody know what the pickups cost from Ibanez? I've got a '96 ATK305 (MIK) that's had its pickup replaced with a Bartolini MM5E, and I'd like to put it back to stock.

EDIT - pickup is 3PU1C4210, $75.00

Alternatively, does anybody know what wire goes to what coil on the stock pickup? The wiring diagram shows 4 wires plus shield, and my Bart has 7 wires. I know where the wires go on the Bart, but I don't know where they correspond on the original pickup. My 3-way switch is wired wrong and I get one good sound + 2 crappy ones.

Answering my own question:

The Ibanez triple coil pickup has two string sensing coils and one hum cancelling coil.

TRAD: bridge-side string sensing coil plus hum cancelling coil, plus a small cap and resistor to mute the highs somewhat

BRIGHT: bridge side SS coil plus HC coil

ATTACK: Bridge-side SS coil plus neck-side SS coil.

Internally, the pickup has the bridge-side SS coil wired in series with the HC coil. There is no easy way to get the two SS coils in series (like an SR5 or Sterling) without at least replacing the 3-way switch. The neck-side SS coil is wired internally to the HC coil (all three coils are actually in series.)

I'm still on the fence about my Bart-equipped ATK305... I suppose I should live with it for a few days at least :)

Mine has a Bartolini 72MM5E, which is a triple-coil pickup shaped like a Lakland or OLP MM5 pickup, but not as wide. The pickup fits the hole in the bridge plate very well.

The pickup is 1.90" x 3.98", which is the same size as a 4-string Music Man pickup. I think an EMG40 would fit but it won't fill the hole completely.

An EMG 40DC will fit too - did this to my 90s era 305 - sounded AWESOME with 18v. MAY do it again to my new ATK - I have some strange EM inetrference in parts of my home I cannot get rid of, and only a DC-equipped bass has been spared it. But I DO love the stock sound AND variety of tones, so who knows....

ok took some proper pics.. Not to shabby for a 13 year old bass..

The maple fretboard has some flame in it which is nice.. Its a good weight, very versatile, sounds great.. I DIG IT.. For now hahaha you know how it works.

just got my ATK305 at work today- i bought it off another TBer here. it feels just right in my hands- i can't wait to try it out on my rig!

here's the photos from the posting- ill clean it up and put up some better ones when i get the chance.

could i get a number?

Same here.. I think it just adds more growl and makes fuller sound. 2 yrs ago I installed it by myself and it was a total improvement.
I had it refinished in white lacquer and getting it back soon. I'm so happy that I own one. Anyways.. is yours cased with rosewood or maple? Mine is rosewood and I almost decided to get a Jazz too from Bassculture again..

Traded in my GSR205 today. I only bought it a few months ago so they gave me $250 + tax on the trade-in. (I had paid $280)

Picked up an ATK300. Blue body, pearl pickguard. I was going to get an MIM Fender Jazz but it had no chance after I played this. There was a 60s Fender Jazz that I liked as much as the ATK, but it was $220 more. The ATK was a steal at $480.
