Yep, that's the charm of ATK, not like Stingray, not like P-Bass, something as a cross-over with its own growl-sound.

Perfect description on the ATK sound. The one bas stone it definitely doesn't do IMO is anything resembling a Jazz bass.

I always decribe the tones like this:

1. TRAD setting - Pbass-ish
2. BRIGHT setting - Modern/active P-bass-ish
3. ATK setting - Stingray/Sterling-ish

Notice the "ish" in every description - ATKs are their own thing.

just bought me an ATK750KA for $350. i'm about to be a 2xATK owner. i just couldn't help myself. I'm really pumped to hear that J pickup on the ATK.

I kinda wish it was a 5er but I can live without the low B sometimes. could always go BEAD if i miss it too much. Or I might throw some super light gauge SS strings on it and use this bass as my slap/tap happy machine. or flats...mmm...flats...so many choices!!!

New for U.S. I think - previoulsy you folks didn't get that colour I think - in Canada, at least where I am, that is the ONLY "colour" option the 305 seems to come in - which luckily was my preference anyways

Agreed Tom, they NEED to bring back the option of a 5er with a J pup, also I want that new mint green one in a 5er. I swaer the Ibanez guys have bricks for brains sometimes...

yes, very nice finish. bought it in 1997 and the dealer told me it was made in 1996. i think it´s an japanese, but i´ve never checked the serial number.

It says Japan on mine in very small writing under the serial number, think it might be 97 but whatever, it's starting to get old whichever it is!

Just got my new Koa topped 750!!! can't wait to get home to play it!!!

The neck is WAY chunkier than my old ATK305. Is it just because it has fewer strings or did they change the neck a lot from '95 to now? It still feels nice but it's definitely different. I think it's my new funk/fusion axe.

I'm thinking it is the 4 vs 5 thing - my 08 ATK305 neck feels the same dimension-wise as my 96 did.....the old ones had a glossy finish as opposed to the satin on the new, but I doubt THAT is the issue
