Yeah, that's exactly what I'm playing except it's integrated into one box. I like the separate approach because sometimes I use a smaller EA Micro 550 as the power amp with the Noble preamp in front.

Actually, I love both of those basses, too!
The EA Micro plus Noble sounds great through the Super Midget. That's one beef I've always had about the Micro - it sounds excellent with acoustic bass but sterile with electric bass. The Noble solves that issue. As for the Super Midget, it's one thing in the signal chain I never have to worry about as I know it will always sound great.
I'd say yes. Love this cab! At this point in the game, I have no desire to lug around an 810. While I've never directly compared the 2, I have played though 810s in the past. This cab can handle anything I can throw at it (notice my amp is 1000w). Give me a Big Twin II over a fridge any day.
I was playing, and still have, two Ampeg PN-410 Pro Neo cabs. The Big Twin II is definitely on par with eight Ampeg 10's. The next outdoor show we do, I may try to stack the two 410s next to the BTII and switch back and forth. I can say, right now, that since I got my BTII, I've not been in a situation where I've thought "I wish I had brought my Ampegs". My BTII has handled everything like a boss! Tonight, I'm using my Arkham Sound Tube pre with a QSC GX7. That's 1k watts. I've used it before, it sounds pretty glorious...
FWIW, here are some pics showing the relative sizes of the Super Midget, Noble tube DI/preamp, and R.A.D. Engineering ICE 1000 power amp. The back-to-front dimension of the amp is less than the SM even though it looks larger in the top view close up photo.
That's pretty close to what I'm aiming for for an upright rig. I've got an EA doubler, Broughton P-15 and I'll be selling some gear for a SM. Can't wait!
That combination ought to sound really nice! For acoustic, I started with the tweeter dial full on thinking that would be right for the "air" and harmonics. But I've really been enjoying it with the dial about half way off. Not sure why. Best to twist knobs and go with what sounds best to your ears (and the room) instead of following advice of us pseudo experts!

I like to change gear what can I say. Searching for an amp that would complement the sound of my bass guitars in a way I think it should. Replaced my EBS Fafner mk1 for an Aguilar AG500 DC.
I think I found on of those keepers
Man does it sound good now. Not that the EBS was crap, but it was much more "bassy" than the Aggie. The AG500 has even more articulation to it and a much tighter bottom, I love it.
Especially my Pbass and my flatwound Jazz Bass 4 string never sounded so good.
I guess the next step is to get a Barefaced Two10 for smaller gigs and either an AG700 or TH500 to complement it. Awesome!

Just bought a Streamliner 900 from another TBer and thinking of getting a Barefaced cab to go with it. Would anybody be able to provide descriptions of how the different cabs would pair with it?
I've been looking at the SC and BB2, but I'm open to other suggestions. I mostly play a Lakland Hollowbody with flats, but also play a Jazz with rounds (favoring a slightly broken-in sound for the strings). Both are standard tuned, 4 stringers used in rock bands. I imagine I'd be able to get typically desirable characteristics (big, open, smooth, warm and articulate) from either cab with the proper setup/settings, but feel free to correct me if I'm making bad assumptions. I suppose my main questions are:
1) While I do like thump, would the lows be too undefined with the SC paired with the Streamliner?
2) What types of styles/sounds really benefit from the HF crossover of the BB2? Not really sure whether I need it.
3) Would either of these cabs pair decently with a guitar amp for double-duty gigs?
4) Are there other cabs (besides the SC and BB2) that would be a better fit for the Streamliner?
